FIRST LAWS OF GHOST PHYSICS-GHOSTS RULE
Various Ghost Canons for Hellskool and maybe other ghost stories I'll write.
Most All ghosts have this etheral white mist tint to their skin since the 'soul' technically is devoid of color. This is also common in creatures that have been raised from the dead-their skin attains this greyish white shade, regardless of race of birth. This is usually temporary in some cases-but it is caused by a step of Post Mortum in which the blood leaves the body and the pigmentation begins to die and the hue becomes 'cadaverous'.
The Ghost's misty pigmentation is an ectoplasmic 'dusting' or a Glamour (similar to fairies) that keeps them from being photographed beyond anything than a simple ball of light-often keeping identities safe. This dust often leaves a small trace, but during certain seasons, ghosts are known to shed massive amounts of it like cats.
Many ghosts have a similar identical exspression of boredom on their faces. This is not because they are eternally bored (Well, for some, maybe yes, but not all cases) They're similar to the Espurr/Meowstic pokemon. They need to keep very calm or shit will start flying. Ghosts that have spent years of mentally training can eventually begin to show a more varient rainbow of exspressions without decking someone with a vase on accident.
Ghosts are capable of eating-it is an unessary function that they are capable of, but many do participate in eating and some claim to feel a bit more energetic after doing so. They do not have to go to the bathroom which gives the theory that eaten matter is turned into pure ghost energy.
Ghosts float. Similar to a 3 day old Helium balloon, a ghost will usually float idely no more than at least a foot off the ground. They can go as high as they please because oxygen, the ozone and atomsphere are no longer problems. No ghosts have gone into space-some force keeps them teathered to the planet earth that doesn't seem to be gravity.
Ghosts also do not need to sleep, but again-this is a luxury they often participate in. Some have been known to sleep and float at the same time, creating a effect similar to a shark.
Ghosts are also capable of becoming intangiable-or untouchable-when they feel discomforted, distressed, upsetted, or simply wish to not be touched. People who have touched an intangiable ghost or have walked thru one have described the sensation like an jerky cold shiver thru their entire body. Intangiablity is their first defense mechanism against whatever is bothering them, which often makes catching a ghost a very VERY difficult task.
Ghosts usually only ooze ectoplasm when they are feeling ill. Yes, ghosts can feel unwell, but it's usually diffrent than the living. If the ectoplasm is very light and translusent, then that is most likely snot or hocked up loogies. Don't touch that, it's gross. If it's much darker in color to an almost greenish shade-it's possibly blood, tears, sweat, or another unmentionable. And you should probably not touch it.
Ghosts do not automatically have the ability to pick things up. Like earlier stated-their emotions must be checked and it seems they need to practice picking up material things, starting very small with things such as tiny rocks, beads, earrings or easer caps. Eventually they get enough 'brownie points' and be able to pick up larger things. Some ghosts have been known to keep small hordes of things they've picked up since they've been dead.
