Factory Canteen under S. 46 of Factories Act, 1948

The Supreme Court of India in Mohan Singh Vs. The Chairman Railway Board & Ors. judgment dated August 3, 2015 has observed that “there cannot be any cavil that the necessity for canteen amenities to be available where more than 250 workmen are engaged, is an essential facet of human or labour rights. Managements and employers are duty bound to provide these basic facilities”.
