Dilemma! For the fic writers/readers/Adoribull fans on my dash.
So, for about a year and a half, I've had 64,000 words of WIP fic Bellus et Bestia sitting on ao3. The longer I don't write, the more embarassed I feel about it, so I don't want to look at it, so it gets longer and I feel more embarassed...
Anyway, my shame finally reached the tipping point of "JUST DO IT ALREADY" and I've cranked out about 90% of another chapter.
The question is, do I post what I've got, with the risk that life gets busy again and there are months more before the next one? Or, at this point, do I not post anything unless I can finish the thing off in one big load?
I feel like I should finally get into gear and finish Bellus et Bestia before ME: Andromeda comes out and I get sucked into another Bioware fandom, but it's really hard to re-familiarise myself with the fic when I keep looking at the "last updated" date and feeling CRIPPLING SHAME

Incidentally, in case anyone’s still interested in any of the fic I haven’t updated in an embarrassingly long time (Bellus et Bestia is currently filing me with shame)...
I’ve been studying for a qualification for work lately (requiring fun things like memorising tax bands and investment regulations). It’s 2 units, and I’m taking the first exam on Tuesday.
After that, I should be relatively free for a while (assuming I pass!). I plan to throw myself back into writing and do my level best to get a daily wordcount. Perhaps hire someone to poke me with sticks if I don’t.
Tl;dr: Going to aim for a new chapter of Bellus et Bestia by the end of April.

Hello, there! I was hoping to ask #9 on the fic-specific questions for Bellus et Bestia.
Hey, sorry this took so long to answer! I went away for the weekend and thought I’d answer when I got back, then totally forgot.Did anyone in the fic surprise me by doing anything? If so, what?
YES, is the answer. This is weird because I plotted the whole thing out in detail before I started writing. The first part is more or less as intended, except a hell of a lot longer. The one thing that really got away from me was the first scene of Chapter…6, I think? I was writing a light-hearted dialogue the night after Dorian and Bull had been drinking, and then Dorian made a joking reference to which the only natural response seemed to be for the Bull to snipe back. I wrote the lines as they came to mind, and suddenly I was staring at two characters at each other’s throats and going “WHAT HAPPENED?”. I almost deleted it, but decided to go with it in the end.
Then I took that break in the middle to re-evaluate and changed a ton of things.
The Bull was supposed to lie to protect Dorian after he escaped, originally, but I realised partway through it didn’t fit with his character at that point in time. His team didn’t exist at all until I realised I needed them, which is annoying because in hindsight they should have been introduced in the 1st chapter - the perils of writing serially!
There’s also been a bunch of other changes I haven’t published yet. Including something right at the end of the next chapter which, honestly, I’m still not sure about, but hopefully it’ll work alright…
