Hello, there! I was hoping to ask #9 on the fic-specific questions for Bellus et Bestia.

Hey, sorry this took so long to answer! I went away for the weekend and thought I’d answer when I got back, then totally forgot.Did anyone in the fic surprise me by doing anything? If so, what?

YES, is the answer. This is weird because I plotted the whole thing out in detail before I started writing. The first part is more or less as intended, except a hell of a lot longer. The one thing that really got away from me was the first scene of Chapter…6, I think? I was writing a light-hearted dialogue the night after Dorian and Bull had been drinking, and then Dorian made a joking reference to which the only natural response seemed to be for the Bull to snipe back. I wrote the lines as they came to mind, and suddenly I was staring at two characters at each other’s throats and going “WHAT HAPPENED?”. I almost deleted it, but decided to go with it in the end.

Then I took that break in the middle to re-evaluate and changed a ton of things.

The Bull was supposed to lie to protect Dorian after he escaped, originally, but I realised partway through it didn’t fit with his character at that point in time. His team didn’t exist at all until I realised I needed them, which is annoying because in hindsight they should have been introduced in the 1st chapter - the perils of writing serially! 

There’s also been a bunch of other changes I haven’t published yet. Including something right at the end of the next chapter which, honestly, I’m still not sure about, but hopefully it’ll work alright…

Oooh, those are neat! I’m especially fond of the betta one. I don’t think I’ve seen that done before!

I actually ended up going with the betta-style ones because AHAHAHA me and symmetrical sculpting. Or smooth sculpting. The fluttery bits mean I can be more uneven.

(also betta fish are such a fitting image for Garfit...)

Ahhhhhhhhh! It's looking so good! Gosh, I love all the patterns in the fabrics!

I’m really pleased with how they’re all matching up. EVEN MORE SO BECAUSE I DIDN’T HAVE TO PATTERN THEN MYSELF. The purple swirl was actually in my scrap bin because this is what my house is like.
