Disregard the last bit of my previous comment - I missed the part where you wrote that your old needles said they were US. My mistake!
Lol yeah, they specifically said that they were US 17, so all I can figure is that maybe sizing was a lot different whenever they were made, because they really were about the size of what would be considered Us 35 + now.

They were hollow plastic and I stepped on one of them. They were also about 50 years old, so it snapped easily.
