Winter jaunt around Cape Spear.
February 19th 2025.
Maybe it’s weird of me to say it but I’m looking forward to winter and the colder weather. Snow is just magical sometimes.

The substance used to fuel lighthouses back in the day
The government of Prime Minister John Diefenbaker decided to consolidate the duties of the Marine Service of the Department of Transport and on January 26, 1962, the Canadian Coast Guard was formed as a subsidiary of DOT.

Petty Harbour/Cape Spear part 4
Besides being the oldest lighthouse in Newfoundland and the most easterly point it was used as an army base during WWII
At the End of the World
A lonely lighthouse plays a mournful song That echoes through the cliffs and cross the sea
At the end of the world I stood alone Gulls plunging, seas crashing, round shores Wheeling through shallow skies they disappear
Natures drawn its curtain Across a world uncertain The cry of the old world pierces The skies of the new.
And then I see him. A fisherman leaning out into the unknown.
His staff is heavy and he holds it glancing To the worlds he’s known
At the end of the world he stands and waits And watches distant seas And hums and taps his feet To the song of the land and the trees.
And with him stands another In a worsted woolen jumper Dreaming of his Emerald Isle home.
Two nomads come to the edge of the world.
Proud Beo’thuk long since gone Their staffs since turned to loam With Irish immigrants unable to make a difference Shuttled far from home.
Here on the windswept cliffs gather the lonesome and the lost.
At the end of the world The fishermen watch and wait For a world they’ll never see.
Cape Spear, Newfoundland and Labrador
Spent the last week back home on The Rock. Rejuvenated, respited, and re-inspired to get back to work on new music. Time to finish this new record.
Shoutout to Viscen for the new and extremely comfortable hoodie.
