Multiple charges here from the Font Police. There is such a thing as excessive capitalization. If not for all the caps, those second and third lines could have fit on to a single one. Make sure your leading does not cause confusion. Also, decide on whether your text is centred or left-aligned, and stick to one on a single sign.
So I’m working on a later draft of a novel and I’m struggling with how to deal with elf subspecies, capitalization wise.
In some respects, I’m thinking they should NOT be capitalized, because of course we don’t capitalize animal subspecies/breeds unless they were named after a proper noun (Canada goose, but arctic tern).
But then I wonder if I should treat them more like nationalities, which ARE capitalized.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Should I capitalize the names of my fictional subspecies
Yes
No
Depends on (please comment!)
