You see Im not saying capitols are like inherently born evil but people SUBESTIMATE A LOT. IT WASNT JUST THE GAMES THAT CAPITOLS DESHUMANIZE AND EXPLOIT THE DISTRICTS ITS WAAAAAY MORE TIME BEFORE.

like sorry guys but I can see capitol citizens complaining about how on their vacation for d4, some locals judge two men that kiss in public, so really those people saying they should spend their precious tax dollars on giving free medical help to the districts, are stupid! the districts hate you! they would burn you alive if they knew you were gay!!!!! #snowlandsontop2089 #reelectpresidentsnow #capitolforcapitols
thinking about the asian markets and restaurants that have large tanks of fish and crabs/lobsters from which they pull out and slaughter. the fish know that they'll be killed soon, they see the corpses of their friends and family laying on the ice, being put on display for their consumers, or on plates decorated with vegetables and sauces. but can't do much in the tank except swim and go on about their lives, awaiting the day they'll be picked out of the tank themselves. you stare at the fish, and they stare back, knowing that the last place they'll be is in your stomach.
anyways... hc where a famous district 4 saying is "staring at the fish", which is in reference to the reaping and how the capitol, the consumer, pick their next tributes, the fish.
🌻!!
ask game!
thinking about the capitol and culture appropriation/gentrification through food. did they take sushi from district 4 and call it a "raw fish roll" or something like that? is gumbo from district 11 less seasoned to accommodate capitol taste palates? do capitol tourists visit district 10 to try "seneca crane bread rolls" and the vendors, who only know them as birria tacos, raise a brow and wonder what they're talking about?
much to wonder!
