'Hood Start! (Board Game Challenge)
SO, for those of you who don't know me (most of you). Hi, I'm Death. I'm an autistic gender-fluid deity with a hard-on for old school board games and a mix of aesthetics.
This year I'm getting back into ts2 at the behest of my bestie, @greatfairie and I'm going to be working on 2 hoods. This is the first, 'Capital City'. Nez suggested I do the 'Build a City Challenge' but imma be real that is uh... a lot of rules. So I'm doing my own challenge-type thing, and calling it the 'Board Game Challenge'. You could probably do this with any board game, but I'm obsessed with monopoly.
Also, this is mainly a building/lore-esk challenge... most gameplay rules are off the table for now.
Basically the rules I'm setting for myself:
Create an entirely new neighborhood to start with. -> I'm not adding any districts cause fuck that. No sub-hoods.
Each square needs to have the color scheme of their original game tiles and a theme matching their name. -> For instance 'Boardwalk' should be dark blue and have ocean, boardwalk, or pier themes.
We start a square, we finish the damn square. -> Mostly a rule for myself because I can't be hop-skipping all over the damn place. Basically, one game tile at a time.
The first 10 sims must be themed after the game, either the pieces or other elements.
Money is no object. -> Specifically because I'm doing Monopoly, my founder (Mayor Thimbleton) is a rich investor and I don't give a fuck abt build costs.
Every color set (or game tile for other games) must have a distinct vibe and living situation. -> Think hunger games districts, each has a really distinct way of living and income. You want to make every walk of life different and unique!
Must have both community and housing lots on a colored tile. No less than 2 community lots and 4 houses. -> Hood deco doesn't count, obviously. -> At least 1 community lot must be a business or place of work. -> You cannot replace the houses with an apartment building, but you can add apartments if you want. Duplexes count as two houses, more than two is an apartment.
No premade lots! Build that shit from scratch. -> You must fully decorate/furnish at least one room of each lot. -> The exterior of a lot must be complete.
At minimum, must have enough sims within each tile to work at businesses.
(Monopoly Only) The population must reflect a capitalist mindset. -> The rich should be a very low population, but own most businesses. -> The rest of the population should often participate in the 'rat-race' and grind mentality. Everyone wants to be rich, most people work.
Next post, meet the mayor! Also, credits to the terrain maker here!
