Hostas are one of my favorite foliage plants and the choice of varieties are endless. To my surprise they grow well in the shade under our live oaks here in my organic garden with supplemental watering and the occasional feeding of an organic all purpose fertilizer. I thought it would be way too hot for them here in the summer in Austin, Texas but thanks goodness I was wrong! Mine are planted in the ground and I had delightfully little slug problems so far. I have only two varieties in the moment in my garden but I intend to add a few more and build up a collection. I would love to acquire a chartreuse colored variety as seen in this photo which I took in England. Any other hosta lovers out there? Which is your favorite variety?
