CLAPS IN THE CHAT FOR v80!
So I've been teasing this character in my tags/posts for a while, and she's finally hereeee. Anyways WHOOPS, another self indulgent Lethal Company character who is basically the Wario version of [Cap'n]!
Meet Echo and her crewmates: Orion (goggle'd circle-shaped one), Spade (short one with big arms), and Guy (shapely GNC one). Being the opposite of Cap'n's crew, they're all men EXCEPT for Echo!
At first, she started out as a grown woman having a one-sided, very pathetic beef with Cap'n, but she evolved into an angry teenager who projects all of her issues onto someone who literally doesn't know she exists (and subsequently does something horrible to herself to rectify this weird beef). Did it work? Well no, come on, look at her, now she's even worse GOKJDFMKDF
And when I say "one-sided", I mean it. Genuinely Cap'n doesn't know who she is, like, at all. I think the first time they meet will be the inevitable werewolf fight between the two of them when things get out of hand.
Anyways I love the kidnapper fox, but alas, she was too swag for this world, RIP to a real one that lasted a month and a half. u_u)!!
FINALLY got this sequence done! (I've been sitting on it for a few months now HIKLJFD)
Look.
I love characters finding out for the first time that their friend is secretly a monster in a big dramatic scene.
However I'm ALSO a big fan of the characters already knowing about that, and the true severity of the situation not sinking in till they inevitably witness it happening real time.
What if you could never look at someone you're close to the same way (despite wanting to) because, though you understood the monster you saw was them, the stark dissonance between the two always kept them separate in your mind till that moment? That skin crawling change and those bloodcurdling shrieks allowing the gravity of the situation to finally settle in? And now you have to carry on knowing this, involuntarily seeing them either through a lens of horror, abject pity, or compassion? Y'know?!
The crew also finally get to realize the fact that Kid has been blaming himself for "The Incident" this whole time, since he was the one who was [yelling on Assurance], and has assumed he attracted the eyeless dog in the first place.
The three of them are more delicate with Cap'n afterwards, which she notices and feels weirdly othered by it, regardless of if it's well intentioned or not. Things go back to normal eventually, but it's definitely TOUCHY for a while.
(Tents fingers) So I've had a very indulgent Lethal Company OC concept on the mind for a while, and now that I've drawn it, of course it's spiraled into a 80+ panel comic HILJKFD
Employee names are tentative right now, but they go by Cap'n, Kid (shortie, actual name is Scoot), Skeets (tall one, short for Skeeter) and Mav (wide one, goes by that or Maverick). Genders are also tentative, but I'm warming up to the idea of them all being women with Kid being the only boy!
Value keys for the comic are under the cut, along with some story beats/thumbnails and the uncensored version of Cap'n's injuries from the attack! (It's sketchy, but it is drawn gore so be warned!)
Cap'n and the gang are ready for the v55 update van! (And so am I! >:)!!)
Here's a big post of some of my doodles of [Cap'n and crew] that I haven't posted yet! Couple are comics, couple are shitposts, you know how it goes.
(Also have some extra character tidbits beneath the cut!)
What do you MEAN Skeets hasn't mentioned her heart and soul? She literally thinks about her daughter every day? You're seriously telling her she's NEVER talked about her while working with the crew? Not even ONCE?! (No. HIOlkjMFDL)
Anyways Skeets after forgetting to mention she's a MILF:
Okay hypothetically, for your lethal comp. goobers, what would happen if someone had a bad day, would they have a cuddle pile or hug or just give separate and/or small comforts (like a firm hand on shoulder, a small talk, etc.)
Also, who would be the least likely to 'break down' and have they at some point? I'm genuinely curious, have been gathering ideas for my own ocs but I also enjoy seeing others' concepts
OOOOH GOOD QUESTION! This is gonna be a bit long since it's per person, so bear with me.
Skeets' Bad Day:
She's definitely the easiest to please: sweets and snacks are right up her alley to help her destress, along with hugs, hand squeezes, or just physical affection overall.
If you bring her a good ass ice cream sundae and let her bawl her eyes out during a movie, that's about all she could ask for. She tries to not bother anyone about how she's feeling, but I think if she was poked about it even once, she'd emotionally vomit everything. After that, the other 3 would need to take shifts while she clings onto them for a while.
Kid's Bad Day:
One of Kid's BIGGEST pet peeves is feeling infantilized, so it's a difficult balance trying to treat him like the child he is vs. making sure not to talk down to him.
Skeets (who's very empathetic, but only has experience with [her 2-year old]) would be the first to smother him with assurance and affection, which would immediately get on his nerves and make him push her away because of this.
Cap'n is still learning how not to revolve her "help" around The Company (e.g. offering to let Kid pick which moon they go to, having him pick their next ship upgrade, etc.), BUT she's been getting better with personalizing her help more... However funny enough, I do think Kid would respond positively to being told he's doing a good job, so she'd probably keep doing that.
Surprisingly, I think Mav would be the most successful at helping Kid out long-term. She'd let him decompress on the ship during work hours, let him talk to her after their shift is over, and probably give him a reassuring pat on the back, while making sure to not push too hard (she's seen how he reacted to Skeets).
I also think they'd have a bit of common ground as they've both dealt with loss/grief (I haven't talked about Kid's, but Mav's is lightly touched on in the second part of this ask!)
Eventually, he'd start sheepishly taking Skeets up on her offers of a hug/going out for ice cream after realizing he really, really needs it. He's 7, after all.
Mav's Bad Day:
Gambling (at least at first). As soon as she clocks out, she's off to the casino to drink the night away and to double their loot (under Cap'n's nose, of course. Can't let her know she's risking their quota).
Eventually there's an incident where the crew finds out about it and, after a fight, this forces her to begrudgingly find better coping mechanisms. This leads to her opening up more often to Cap'n and Skeets (not Kid. He'd certainly offer, as she's so attentive to him when he's upset, and she'd humor him somewhat, but in a super simple way that lets him feel like he's helping. He's a child, not her therapist).
A good talk really is what she needs 99% of the time, as when she's bothered, it's usually because she feels like she's not being listened to, especially by Cap'n.
Cap'n's Bad Day:
Pre-weredog, it was easier to comfort them since, being totally The Company-pilled, you could basically do anything work-related with her to cheer them up (watching reruns of safety videos, letting them talk about their leaderboard scores, etc).
Additionally, she and Skeets have a daily post-quota routine where she gives Cap'n words of affirmation along with positive physical affection. The other two have figured out this is something she REALLY looks forward to every day and have learned how to do their own variation of it. (Because if it DOESN'T happen, the whole day's vibes are off. Girl likes her steady patterns.)
Post-weredog, all the routines and imperfections she already stresses about are exacerbated tenfold. Things get under her skin quicker and she has a harder time getting out of that spiral.
However SOMEHOW after much trial and error, the crew would figure out that a cuddle pile does the trick. (Skeets theorizes since eyeless dogs hunt in packs, maybe something about being surrounded by them soothes that dog part of her brain. Needs further testing, however...)
As for who's the least likely to break down, definitely Mav! She's typically the more level-headed of the group.
Now HAS she? Yes, at least once! I haven't talked about it (there's a comic sitting in my brain for it), but Mav is the only one of the four who's experienced a team wipe and it was nearly 100% her fault, so.
I imagine the catalyst was her and Cap'n disagreeing on Titan if they should try to full clear the scrap or leave while they're ahead. Mav is already weirdly antsy on this moon, and oops, argument escalates, situation goes tits up, and Kid's nearly gooped by a masked entity before Mav reduces it to a fine red paste of viscera with a yield sign and the bottom of her heel.
Mav gets so lost in the sauce that Skeets and Cap'n have to quickly (but very carefully) retrieve her from outside before she gets killed by the other enemies lurking around.
From there, it's basically this on their way out of orbit:
Until finally Mav has to grab the console to not fully collapse while trying not to hyperventilate, all the while Cap'n and Skeets are holding her up, too. They try to talk to her, but she's like. Totally disassociative.
However one of them saying the word "Kid" cuts through the brain fog, which promptly perks her up. She WHIPS around, seeing Kid splattered with blood from earlier and charges accusatorily at him. Saying something about how he's not right/he's not real/it got him/that's not Kid ad nauseum.
She grows VERY loud and more confusing with her ramblings, but thankfully with Cap'n's weredog strength, they make sure she doesn't grab Kid (or that yield sign she was reaching for) during this episode.
It's pretty dire for a hot sec since they're trapped in the ship and aren't really sure what to do. However she comes down eventually and has to apologize for her outburst (ESPECIALLY to Kid, who brushes it off, like he does many things).
ANYWAYS thank you for the interest in my guys! I wish you luck in the development of your crew! ;v;)!! (Also I hope you were looking for an answer about Cap'n's crew and not Echo's! BECAUSE I CLEARLY did not answer that hioLKJFD)
