FINALLY got this sequence done! (I've been sitting on it for a few months now HIKLJFD)
Look.
I love characters finding out for the first time that their friend is secretly a monster in a big dramatic scene.
However I'm ALSO a big fan of the characters already knowing about that, and the true severity of the situation not sinking in till they inevitably witness it happening real time.
What if you could never look at someone you're close to the same way (despite wanting to) because, though you understood the monster you saw was them, the stark dissonance between the two always kept them separate in your mind till that moment? That skin crawling change and those bloodcurdling shrieks allowing the gravity of the situation to finally settle in? And now you have to carry on knowing this, involuntarily seeing them either through a lens of horror, abject pity, or compassion? Y'know?!
The crew also finally get to realize the fact that Kid has been blaming himself for "The Incident" this whole time, since he was the one who was [yelling on Assurance], and has assumed he attracted the eyeless dog in the first place.
The three of them are more delicate with Cap'n afterwards, which she notices and feels weirdly othered by it, regardless of if it's well intentioned or not. Things go back to normal eventually, but it's definitely TOUCHY for a while.
Even the dogs dont go there.
(i know the doggos dont look like that, but i prefer a more... realistic approach where they have some hair in atleast the vital areas and some ears)
Guys I got my blind elderly dog to play with me today!
He normally has utter disinterest in toys but in the past he would sometimes play tug on a rope toy or something. He's also obsessed with crunching through the fall leaves in the yard. So I had an idea.
I took a rope-in-the-limbs stuffy toy that he had shown passing interest in outside. I rustled it in the leaves and got him all excited and he played tug with me and even did nibs on it! Wish I could have got pics for my partner and yall but I was busy playing.
Unfortunately milo doesnt like playing with his daddy as much, I think it's a weird dominance thing for him where dogs and people were mean to him in the past so he thinks he can't have anything :( so I always repeat things like "milo toy" and "good boy" while we are playing.
This old sap is a pain in the ass (I lug his 50lbs up and down the stairs when he is too weak to climb them most of the time) but damn he melts my heart.

He's a sassy little guy who will thump his tail on the nearest surface and hit me with his paw if I don't give him scritches lol
Most of his pictures are when he's asleep because blind doggos move a lot, and you can't get them to focus on looking at a treat to take a non-blurry pic lol
Afaik big chances he was born blind but we don't know much of his past. He did use to have eyes, but long story short: glaucoma not responding properly to treatment, so his eyes had to be surgically removed.
Alas, the thing (and the only thing) stopping him from ruling the world isn't his blindness but his bad back
He has to settle for ruling over me, his humble servant, and my heart 💘
