Tarzan {Sentence Starters}
"No, I'm with you. It doesn't look great."
The (barely) older of the Spaniel twins wrinkled her nose. Their younger sister Danielle was, of course, already splashing around in the lake as if she hadn't a care in the world; the more reserved older girls, however, hung back on the bank with their neighbour.
Annette glanced at her twin.
"I mean, Dad said he used to go swimming here all the time before he met Mom, so it should be fine..."
Still, she didn't exactly make a move to get into the water herself, either. Swimming was all well and good, but her fur would take ages to dry afterwards, and it was so hard to look dignified like that. In the privacy of a backyard pool, maybe, that was a different matter; but out here in public? Not without good reason, thanks.
"C'mooooon, what are you all waiting for?"
Her inexpert paddling bringing her back around towards them again, the smallest spaniel squinted up at her sisters and friend uncomprehendingly, the white baseball cap she always wore drooping over one eye. Didn't make sense to the littlest girl of the family; who came out to go swimming and then just stood around instead of doing that thing?
Idly, without even particularly thinking about what she was doing, she kicked the biggest splashes of water she could manage in her sisters' direction.
Collette yelped and skipped back a few paces to keep her precious fur clean; Annette wasn't quick enough and took the splash across her shoulder; whether by design or by chance Judo was spared the worst of the miniature tidal wave.
Annette's eyes narrowed as Dani panted happily, oblivious to how much she'd just ticked off the twins. The blue-clad girl darted her gaze back towards Collette and Judo.
"If you two really aren't going in, look after this for me." She slipped her tie off over her head, laying it before the pair; no way was she getting her favourite accessory soaked, no matter what.
"Because someone needs to teach our little sister some manners. Get back here, Danielle!" She dived into the lake in hot pursuit of the younger girl.
