Crowley is not very good at being evil, but he's cottoned on that humans are extremely talented at it. During his time as a pirate captain on the savage seas, Crowley sometimes does good things on accident (or occasionally on purpose), but he's learned when the crew incredulously asks him why he did a thing, to give them his darkest smile.

"Why do you THINK?" he asks as though already having an answer.

There's a few seconds of terrified silence because no one wants to get it wrong when their captain is looking at them Like That with that eerie yellow eye (the one not hidden by what Crowley considers a very roguish eye patch). But soon a dozen creative, evil theories are flying his way. Crowley's smile widens.

"Yes very good, yes that's exactly why I did it. Clever lot you are."

They're in awe of their evil captain.

Crowley's reports become the best in Hell.
