Christmas with the Captain
Captain x Ghost! Male Reader
Hi! I've been obsessed with this show today so that's what sparked this. In my head, I had the reader as another solider or another authority figure mostly because that's the type of person I think would bond with the captain most given his affections in the show but it's very rarely expressed so the reader can be whatever kind of ghost you wish
(I started writing this about a year ago but had to save it for this year instead even if its a little late! I'm not fully happy with it but I just wanted to get something out)
He sees Christmas as a very proper affair with everything needing to be perfect. This doesn't help when you come along because not only do things need to be perfect in general, they need to be perfect FOR YOU.
The two of you would stay up at night talking about the memories of your past christmases and what you would want your christmas to be like if you could along with discussing what christmas presents you would want if you were still alive (he promises you that if he were alive then he would get you whatever your heart desired)
One year, you asked Allison if she could get him something special so you'd liaise with her to ensure that you got the captain the perfect gift. Some ideas I had were: a replica service revolver, books about the war, war models or replicas i.e model planes or tanks that he can sit and explain.
Afterwards, he would spend the rest of the day gushing about it and about how he got a far better present than everyone else because of how thoughtful you are. He would spend hours telling you how that was the perfect gift and why he loves it so much whether it's because he always wanted it when he was alive or whether it's something that he's been interested in
SEASON TWO
You crowd around the whiteboard that Mike and Allison were using when everyone is out of the kitchen so he could tell you all the different things he would have done if he had a whiteboard (which is basically just him explaining old military tactics but you'll stand there and listen none the less)
You both have a small fight in the woods about who stands behind who to protect them when everyone was scared of the chainsaw in the woods
The two of you end up fiercely competitive at twister (though you are the only person in the house that he would let win) You end up in a slightly suggestive position which like means that you end up falling out of pure embarrasment and calling it a drawer
If you didn't play twister then you would listen to him tell you all about how he beat Thomas at twister and you would congratulate him even if you knew he was slightly exaggerating his victory
You agree to watch the kin-queen's speech with him because you knew that he wanted to and you listened to him rant afterwards about how invasive it was
You rest your head on his shoulder or stand holding his hand while you sing carols with Allison, occasionally smiling over at each other (if this is when he discovered that you're a good singer then he will ask you, rather bashfully, if you could sing for him another time)
It takes you ALLLLLLLL day to manage to get the captain under the mistletoe but when you finally do he has never been so flustered in his life. If the two of you aren't fully together then you just softly kiss him on the cheek and he thinks about that for the rest of the day (or week) but if you are then you share a soft kiss on the lips (which probably gets interrupted by one of the others or Allison or one of Mike's family walking straight through you)
SEASON THREE
The two of you help Allison put up the decorations (well, help as much as you can which mostly means giving orders or relaying the captains orders to everyone else)
You both end up telling Kitty different stories about Santa so you have to come together at some point to coo-berate what you've actually said and come up with new stories together
You both ace the questions in the Christmas quiz that are about each other (if the other ghosts didn't know that you were together by then that certainly gave them a massive suspicion)
SEASON FOUR
For the panto, he will want you as his DSM (deputy stage manager) though he very much mistakes it for being back in the war (as usual) and people could often find him barking orders at you that seem rather silly given his tone (i.e 'tell her to point her feet!') but you know that that's how he shows his love
If you were anything to do with theatre in life or if you really liked it then he would make sure that it's perfect for you and he would make sure that people listened to your ideas if you gave any
The two of you would go to bed together that night discussing ideas either for the show or of how to keep everything running smoothly
The gossip between the two of you is elite, when you're alone you'll sit discussing how terrible Julian is at learning lines and how depressing Thomas's show was going to be (there are often inside jokes between the two of you that no one else gets but you can often be found chuckling to each other about them)
He catches you watching him after he gives Kitty the pep talk and blushes deeply, pretending he isn't flustered by messing with his tie (you approached him afterwards to tell him how kind that was to do for her and he made that noise he always makes and said 'oh it was nothing' while blushing (if he can blush? does anyone know whether the ghosts can blush?))
You cheer the loudest for him when he's the fairy god mother (you may also have been tasked with lifting him as he's the one that he trusts the most with the task)
Allison gifted you battleship knowing that you and the captain would want to play together. When she explained the concept to you you were both enthralled and even though you had to play with Allison or you had to imagine that the pieces were moving, the two of you played for hours discussing all the different strategies or squabbling over whether or not the other was cheating
If Allison gifted you something heartfelt like Pat's though the captain would relish in watching or learning about your past, comforting you if it's hard for you, asking you questions and complimenting you on various aspects of your life
He would later tell you that he wishes he could have been there with you in life so that he could be apart of those stories but he's glad that he can spend the rest of his Christmases with you
After Christmas, you would both retire to bed tired but jolly after your day. You would lie in bed together and 'debrief the day' as he likes to call it but really it's just the two of you talking about your favourite parts of the day and how grateful you are to have spent it with each other. (picture the scene of him talking to his pillow, with a soft kiss on your cheek calling you 'old thing' before bedtime)
Merry Christmas from Button House x
