whenever i see any posts about pistolwhip i have to get up and run around in circles for like 20 minutes . ... EVEN NOW they mean so much to me. platonically. queer-platonically. romantically. literally any other type of relationship IT DOESN'T MATTER!

riptide is about love in so, so many different forms. pistolwhip is love beyond the grave. a reminder of love gone but not lost. a ghost of affection that transforms into a new living, breathing relationship with just as much sincerity and intention to it. a tree cut will still grow if seeds are planted. a forest fire will be followed by the fresh baby greens of new life.

jay is not a replacement. jay is not a replica of the love that lizzie felt for ava. jay is not ava. but jay could be a new living, breathing, beautiful vessel for that love rebirthed? reincarnated? ava is in jay. she's lingering around jay's shoulders, she's piping up when jay talks, her hair is sweeping through jay's hair. the remnants remain, but not in the way that jay appears as just a ghost to lizzie? not in the way that jay is just a reminder of ava? but in the way that fresh vegetation carries a physical reminder of the plants before it while being new. a little different. different lives, outcomes, conditions. lizzie can't wholly disentangle ava from jay, but the closer they get, the more jay blossoms into something unique- just still a little similar. the same, but different. does this make sense.
