Rewatching the Equinox episodes and getting so mad for the same two reasons I always get mad.
Ransom drives me up to wall with his "but i feel so badd🥺 i feel so bad about all the torturing and murder i do🥺 it's hard for me!!!!" Like if you're gonna kill people at least have some dignity and be cool about it. This is why i always hate serial killer characters it's always the whiny justifications + the misogyny. He keeeeeps being creepy toward Seven and I am going to rip his head off. Puke!!!! This isn't a show criticism though it's just me dealing with my personal limit for watching characters that piss me off.
What IS a show criticism though, the second thing that drives me crazy, is the Doctor getting his ethical subroutines deleted and immediately being onboard with taking Seven apart. Like no. No. I've said this before but WHAT SHOULD HAVE happened is the second his ethics were removed he should have immediately stolen Max's phaser and killed him (+shot to kill at Ransom but he escapes because plot must go on) BECAUSE LOVE IS NOT STORED IN THE ETHICAL SUBROUTINES. AND SEVEN IS HIS FRIEND AND HE LOVES HER. Personality is more than your sense of morality. I get why THEIR emh turned evil, he was surrounded by it and was definitely never treated with any degree of respect, but OUR Doctor has a whole life full of relationships that mean a great deal to him.
You take the ethics out of the Doctor you do not get Doctor who will kill his friends. You get Doctor that will kill FOR his friends. Is he more than just a program or not!!!!! Writers room!!!!!!!!!!
At the end of the day though I love these episodes because any day where I get to watch Captain Janeway go rage mode is a good day for me.
