Trivia: Intergalactic superhero Kyaputen Urutora is the protagonist of a pulp-style tokusatsu/sci-fi series aired in Japan from April to September 1967, with a total of 24 episodes. The series is loosely based on Captain Future, the pulp science fiction saga created by Edmond Hamilton.

Dollar Bill the TV producer invites the Defenders to watch his documentary show on television. The TV Producer has been filming the Defenders as he's been following them around, and he releases a special on TV that shows them in battle and then advertises the fact that since they're a "non-team" anyone who wants to can be a member. Cue to the next morning, a lot of superheroes show up to claim for membership and…to horse (pardon the pun) around.

The superheroes who showed up are Black Goliath (Bill Foster), Captain Mar-Vell, Captain Ultra (Griffin Gogol), Falcon (Sam Wilson), Havok (Alex Summers), Hercules (Hercules Panhellenios), Iron Fist (Danny Rand), Jack of Hearts (Jack Hart), Marvel Man (Wendell Vaughn), Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), Nova (Richard Rider), Paladin, Polaris (Lorna Dane), Prowler (Hobie Brown), Son of Satan (Daimon Hellstrom), Stingray (Walter Newell), Tagak, Torpedo (Brock Jones) and White Tiger (Hector Ayala).

Richard Rider, Wendell Vaughn, Hector Ayala and Prowler tried to ride on horses with mixed results. Nighthawk and Falcon are flying around while Hellcat flirts with a few heroes. Elsewhere, a few of the would-be Defenders discuss about the leadership of the team. They nominate Captain Mar-Vell as a team leader but the Kree Captain turns them down so Hercules gets voted as a leader instead. Valkyrie and Hulk are serving coffee to the gathered heroes. However, there is a problem with the coffee served, as Valkyrie has no experience in making coffee, and she did not think of adding any cream or sugar. Her coffee is way too strong and bitter, with most of the heroes simply taking a sip and then throwing it to the ground. Elsewhere, several of the heroes are conspiring in attacking Hulk. Meanwhile, the flirting with Hellcat turns ugly when Jack of Hearts and Captain Ultra start fighting over her. Their argument is about to get into a fist fight, but they have failed to notice the four heroes on horseback approaching. The four of them are chasing after Nighthawk and the Falcon, and their galloping horses nearly trample Captain Ultra and Jack of Hearts.

Far away from the chaos, Hulk wants peace and quiet that he isolates himself from the crowd. He does not like so many heroes being around, and Valkyrie has forbidden him to smash them away. Just before Hulk could leave, he is ambushed by Torpedo and his group as they emerge from the bushes and attack the Hulk. The attackers call for Hulk to surrender but the Gamma Being swats them away. As the Defenders start fighting each other in a free-for-all, Valkyrie and Hellcat look worried about the situation. The two of them ask Hercules to do something about it. (Hercules has just been elected the leader of the Defenders for a Day). Before they have a chance to act, Iron Man arrives with a letter for Hellcat, which had been laying around the Avengers Mansion for quite a while. Iron Man informs the Defenders that an entire horde of super-villains were inspired by the Defenders television documentary. They call themselves Defenders and are currently rampaging in Manhattan. Hellcat and Valkyrie decide that the real Defenders have to respond to this threat. Hercules believes he could restore order for the team by smacking them with an uprooted tree. While the Would-Be Defenders had to listen to Hercules' lecture, Hulk angrily leaves the team.
