Looks like GIGA's next YouTube series will be Shinsei Sentai Ryuseiger!
I was wondering if they were going to make a Ryuseiger series. I'm not sure how I feel about Ryusei Blue being male when they've always been female before.

Gender flipped Silver Kamen (1971).
Just like the previous post, this also took me years to figure out who she was supposed to be. At least, who I think she is.
Sailor Tanatos transformation.
Thanks to Jay for the video.
I always thought her costume looked familiar. I only just now realized that she is based off of the manga version of Inazuman (of which I could not find a good enough picture of).
the fanbase seems to be mostly male, but from someone that isn't: what's the best entry point for someone new to tokusatsu that wants to see cute girls fighting or featured in action scenes?
I’m going to be honest with you (and anyone who is reading this). I don’t expect you to believe me but, I’m a woman too. I made this blog because I really appreciate the research and craftsmanship that GIGA and Zen put into their costumes. I’m asexual and don’t care for pornography (much less the non-con frequently found in GIGA, but that's a rant for another day).
To answer your question, I would say Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. It’s a live-action adaptation of the manga series, it came out in 2003. It’s an adaptation of the first story arc, the Dark Kingdom arc. The first few episodes start off similar to the manga, but it quickly takes it’s own direction. Those familiar with the original series might be in for a few surprises.
This show was actually my first introduction to tokusatsu. I didn’t really watch Power Rangers while growing up, but I did watch Sailor Moon (the old DiC dub on Toonami).
The fight scenes are kind of meh, they do a lot of jumping and spinning, earning the fan-name of “ballet-fu”. The fight chirography does improve as the series goes on however.
The writing has a lot of elements found in jdrama, since the has a lot of romance elements typically found in shoujo manga. It was written by Yasuko Kobayashi who previously was head writer on Timeranger and Kamen Rider Ryuki. She would later go on to write Shinkenger and Kamen Rider OOO.
The show has been fansubbed in full twice. The first subs were made by TV-Nihon back during the shows original run and is sourced using old TV rips. This version was the first one I watched. However, there are few translation mistakes throughout and TV-N is known for keeping words of phrases untranslated. As well as there use for flashy fonts and text effects.
The next group is Miss Dream. They did two versions. The version was subbed during the early 2010s, using a DVD source. The translation is more accurate than TV-Nihon and doesn’t have the flashy texts. Miss Dream very recently did scrub (a re-translation) of their subs, using a new up-scaled video source.
You can find the series on torrent trackers like Nyaa or direct download on KRDL.

I made these fake magazine covers a few years ago, so I thought I'd show them. Click for full sizes.
I'm re-blogging these, because I'm thinking about making more of them and I want other people's opinions. I'm really proud of how these turned out. I feel like my editing skills have gotten better in the past few years, and I want to do something creative again.
Should I make more?
