Summary: After 8 years of marriage, Killian and Emma Jones are in the middle of a very public divorce. Clueless to why Emma is ready to end their marriage, the truth is a greater hardship then Killian could ever imagine.
Rating: M
My Thoughts: So, Iāve read this fic so many times. AND ITāS AMAZING! I actually read the whole thing in one day today. You just canāt stop reading. I love the angst divorced AUās grace us with, and this one is just downright painful. I could not recommend a better fic for anyone to read this week.Ā
Hi! Its me. Iām on a one woman mission to bring back some old fics for the newer CS fans Iāve come across recently. To accompany the each fic I will be making a quick fan banner for each one. If you want to recommend any fics, you know how to reach me.Ā
Iāve had so much fun being a part of Captain Swan Secret Santa these past few weeks, and here is my present to @captain-k-jones. Itās been wonderful getting to know you, and I hope you like your gift! Inspired by the ever-wonderful-to-watch-and-fangirl-atĀ āyou traded your ship for me?ā kiss, this is my imaginings of how Killian got the magic bean in exchange for his ship. As a warning to all, Iāve never written fic to this scale before, so I hope you enjoy!
Merry Christmas!
He needed a way back to her. Now that the curse had been cast, movement between worlds was possible again. But he didn't know how. His ship could take him anywhere, but not without a portal.
Killian weighed options in his head as he entered a tavern at the edge of the Enchanted Forest. He needed a plan, and soon.
"...and so I told the bloke, I'll just take the beans!" a tall man in a hat and boots roared from the back of the pub to the delight of his jeering, drunken crew. Killian recognized the man: Black Beard. But Killian was in no mood for confrontation tonight, his mind only on getting back to Emma. But as the other pirate's boasting story grew louder and wilder, something caught Killian's attention.
"And of course he was too afraid to put up much of a fight, but my men took care of him all the same, and do you know, I put in all that work for just two? All the chasing and the threatening, and the bloke only had two magic beans on him!" Black Beard and his crew laughed wildly at this. "But no matter, no matter, I have what I need. Tomorrow, men, we sail!" Black Beard raised his glass to toast his newest conquest.
The other pirate captain had heard Black Beard's every word, and now he knew exactly what to do. But not tomorrow, he thought, I sail tonight.
Black Beard would never pass up the chance to show off against his oldest enemy, even if it meant risking something as precious as a magic bean. Men like Black Beard never turned down a wager, Killian knew. Several hours had passed, and Killian lay in wait aboard the Jolly Roger for Black Beard and his crew, who had just stumbled out of the tavern and onto the moonlit dock.
"Black Beard!" Killian called through the dark.
Black Beard peered through the night, drawing his sword and walking ahead of his crew. "Who is that? Show yourself!"
Killian stepped into the moonlight of the gangplank. Black Beard met his gaze with a look of surprise and malice.
"Why if it isn't my oldest friend," Black Beard sneered. "What pathetic quest brings you to this corner of the realm?"
"I need passage to another land," Killian drew his own sword, "and I hear you have the means."
"Oh, these?" Black Beard pulled the pouch with his two precious beans from his coat. "Seems word of my prowess travels even to the likes of you. You know, the sod that had these before reminds me--"
"I don't really care who you bullied them away from," Killian cut off the other's jesting, closing the distance between them. "All I care about is returning the favor. We've known each other long enough for me to know you never turn down a challenge." He raised his sword.
"Oh? I've never seen a man so anxious to be bested. What's made you so eager to be rid of this place, Jones? No tavern wenches here that suit your fancy?" Black Beard jibed, his crew laughing drunkenly behind him.
"That's my business. Now, are we to duel, or do you really insist on standing here prattling on all night?" Killian took a step forward.
"Oh, no, not tonight. You see, if we are to duel, I want to strike down the great Captain Hook in broad daylight. Aye, your demise must be witnessed, by, say, the noonday crowd?" Black Beard said pompously.
"No, we duel, tonight." Killian was growing impatient, but he needed one of those beans. He had to get Emma back to her family, they needed her. He needed her.
Black Beard changed his tone, almost curious. "What makes you so desperate, Jones? What's made the realm's second-greatest sea captain want to run off to another land?" He was enjoying this now. "Tell you what, we can duel, if only to prove just how foolhardy you are, here, at high noon tomorrow, and if you win, one of these beans are yours." Black Beard faced his foe, playing to the inebriated guffaws of his crewmen. "But if I win, which I undoubtedly will, I get your ship," he sneered.
The terms didn't matter to Killian. He had no intention of losing, and he needed one of those beans.
"Tonight," was his terse reply. "Or are you really too drunk to take on such a simple challenge?"
"No, too proud," Black Beard conceded simply. "See you in the morning, Captain." He started away, boasting loudly to his men.
Killian could feel his chance slipping away. Black Beard had never been receptive to negotiation, even if Killian could up the stakes of the duel. This might be his only chance of getting to Emma in New York.
"The Jolly Roger's yours if you hand over the bean tonight!" Killian called after the other, hating every word as it left his mouth, but he knew this was his only choice. He couldn't wait any longer, there was no telling what damage the curse had done.
Black Beard stopped and turned, face rotating between glee, shock, and malice.
"Oh, so this is about a woman, isn't it? And you'd trade your ship for her? Are you mad, Captain?" The taller man called back with a sneer.
"Do we have a deal or not?" Killian said through gritted teeth.
Black Beard sauntered slowly back toward the other.
"Well, I'd have to be a right fool to turn down an offer like that, but tell me, Jones, what sort of woman has finally figured out how to tame a pirate?"
"Information wasn't part of the deal, now hand over the bean before I change my mind." An empty threat, as much as he might want to, but Black Beard needn't know that.
"Fine, keep your secrets," he plucked one of the magic beans from its pouch and handed it to Killian. "The ship is ours, men!" He cried to his crew as he shoved past his foe and stepped onto the ship.
Killian clutched the bean in his fist even as he mourned his vessel. He wouldn't need it in New York anyhow. One thing alone occupied his mind as his boots hit dry land: Emma.
How about C3, A9, & D1 for the Reader Asks (sorry if you already answered some of these) - my computer is acting wonky.
Thank you for the ask friend!! You actually didnāt get any duplicates, well done š
A9: Who was your first ship?
For simplicity I generally say Han/Leia because I honestly have no idea
I have always been a shipper, since long before I knew what that even was
C3: Is there anything that makes you nope out of a story? What is it?
I really donāt like x reader fics, they just are not my thing (sorry sorry I know thatās a huge part of fandom itās just Not For Me). Also anything incestuous, yikes (remember wincest??? Ugh). Hmmm when characters are like BLATANTLY OOC. Which of course is a very subjective thing.
Idk I have many and varied reasons for clicking out of a fic
Lmao Kathryn I feel like I should just link to your answer here
D1: When did you read your last story?
Iām actually in the middle of one right now lmao
*hugs you real real reaaaaaaaaal tight* would you please send this to the first 10 people in your dash? Make sure someone gets a hug today and stay safe!
