A mini drabble between Gin and her cousin Lyda Rose ( @blackwaldrogue ) in regards to the IC death of Belysa ( @captainbelysa )â. Â As a side note, I loved Bells as a character, Gin just has very legitimate reasons for not liking her. Â This would be longer, but Iâm hurting so...hereâs this, maybe Iâll finish it later.
âLyda.â
The witch didnât look up from her table, continuing her work. Â âShe died.â
â...aye.â
âAnd yâcannoâ feel any remorse for her though you know it wasnâ her.â
âCan yâstop readinâ mâmind fer one bloody second!?â
Lyda looked up, her honey gold eyes meeting Ginâs sapphire ones. Â A frown pulled at the witchâs face for a moment before she set down her tools, facing her cousin. Â âApologies, Ginny. Â Buâ yâknow I canâ turn it off.â
Gin just waved her hand before sitting down, her head dropping into her hands.  âI wanâ tâferget it, Lyda.  âM still âavinâ nighâmares.  S-she goâ tâferget it.  She goâ tâbloody ferget it all anâ ah wus left with thâmemâry oâ âer face threateninâ mâfamilyâŠ!â  Gin stood suddenly, letting out a growl as she spun around.  âAnâ now âm beinâ scolded fer noâ seeinâ âer as she really wus.  âOw thâfuck âm ah sâposed tâdo thaâ when ahâll ah could see when ah looked at âer wus thâface thaâ threatened thâtwinsâŠ!?â
Her jaw was clenched, frustrated tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. Â She was angry. Â Angry that she was expected to just be able to forgive the face that threatened her family simply because she knew Belysa wasnât really the one doing it. Â Angry that she couldnât do that. Â But mostly she was angry that Belysa had had the luxury of simply forgetting everything, that sheâd caused herself to lose her memory to start over.
But just because she got to start over, didnât mean there werenât still consequences.
Lyda stood up, grabbing her cousinâs arm and pulling her closer, careful not to make her feel trapped. Â âNo oneâs askinâ yâta forget, Ginny.â Â Lydaâs voice was calm as ever, attempting to calm down the seething hunter. Â âJusâ...itâll take some more time. Â One day youâll be able tâforgive her...anâ youâll be able to make peace with her spirit. Â Buâ no oneâs askinâ yâta forget.â
Okay, soâŠthe other day Aren made the comment that Gin probably has some minor resistance to Shadow magic, just being that sheâs exposed to it so regularly. And now I have thoughts about it across all her verses, and not just Shadow magic, necessarily, but dark magics in general.
So, across all her verses, Gin was forced to go into the Emerald Nightmare to retrieve Belysa and the other captives. While the Nightmare did have some effects on Gin (read: recurring and waking nightmares of watching her loved ones die), it did not have the effect it could have had on her. Now, the Nightmare is stronger than what Gin has been exposed to before, so it is possible that there may be some dormant side effects, but for now it was just very real night terrors of her loved ones.
While many of Ginâs contacts/friends/what have you use dark magics to varying degrees, Iâm only hitting on her ships in this post, because thatâs who she would be around the most.
Now hereâs where we get to break down into her different verses because Iâve had a lot of free time lately, so this is what Iâve been thinking about:
v; main
In her main verse, Gin technically has two husbands. Terrick and the Shadow being that shared his body - referred to as Terror. Gin and Terrick met while he was still mostly Terror, so she was exposed to him a decent amount. Terror is currently out of the picture, but there is always the chance that he could come back. While Terror was still in the most control, he did use Shadow magic on Gin, mostly to protect her and sometimes just for fun. Now, while she was pregnant, Terror started to disappear, but at one point in time Terrick did give Gin his revolver - the Crowhunter - to her, which is linked to Terror somehow (forgive me, I donât remember the details). Eventually, Terrick took the gun away from her, stating that if she stayed around it too long, sheâd start hearing whispers of the Old Gods; but Gin never heard anything from the runes etched into it.
Continuing with Arenâs theory that Gin has probably built up a minor resistance, sheâd probably have to hang onto the gun for a little bit longer before she started noticing anything.
v; piracy
So, this verse has Gin in a relationship with Gatz, who actively practices dark magic - which Gin most likely knows about to some extent - and is continually warned against him being twisted by it by a âconcerned stalker.â Gin continues to ignore the warnings because she doesnât see it. Not that sheâs blinded by her affections for the man (though that may be a small factor), but simply sheâs built up that much of a resistance, that sheâs blind to it. Eventually, Iâm sure something will cause her to see it, but at the present moment she doesnât. This is possibly due to prior to Legion, she and Gatz only saw each other when they were both on land. (Though Gin did joke that he was stalking her due to him being able to find her so easily.)
v; drunkrunes
While Seaandra doesnât use Shadow magics in the same sense as her other ships, there is obviously dark magic keeping the death knight animated and alive. Seaa once posed the question âdoesnât my undeath bother youâ to Gin, to which she replied âno.â While Gin is not (and will never be) a fan of Sylvanas or the Forsaken, Gin realizes that death knights are a slightly different case. Whether she chooses to ignore this or simply doesnât mind the magics is unclear.
v; shadows consume
This is the only non-shipping verse I will address in this post. In this verse, Gin has an entity of Shadow that follows her around, occasionally possessing Ginâs body. Gin has little to no knowledge of this being, most likely due to her close proximity with the entity at any given moment. Eventually, I may decide to have her become more aware, but for nowâŠshe remains blissfully ignorant.

ULTIMATE SHIP MEME - Send my character a †and Iâll fill in the form of what my character would do with yours.
(Accepting!)
Iâm going with GinxBells being a hateship kind of thingâŠ
Affectionate; (Itâs a hateship, there is no affection.)Holding hands | Cheek kisses | Hugs from behind | Cuddling | Hand kiss | PDA | Spooning | Shared baths | Whispers (of DOOM) | Affectionate texts | Caressing | Stroke hair | No displays of affection
Sex; (Again, hateship, the purpose of this for both of them is purely carnal, soâŠyeah.)Shower sex | Wall sex | Neck bites | Oral | Morning sex | Drunk sex | Public sex | Backseat of car (or equivalent in Azeroth) | BDSM | No sex | (This is my own) Hate sex
Dates; (Hate dates.)Picnic | Cinema | Restaurant | Sports game | Hike | Coffee | Museum | Club | Bar | Beach | No dates
Would my characterâŠ
Marry them? Yes | No Have sex on the first date? Yes | NoConfess their attraction first? Yes | No Have children/adopt? Yes | No Die for your character? Yes | No Cheat on your character? Yes | No | Maybe (Okay, so this is a grey area.  Gin doesnât cheat on her partners, unless it is explicitly stated that itâs open or just a fling (see: the GinxGatz ship).  Sheâs aware he sleeps with other people, and Gin will use him to make others jealous, though she does have a tendency to be possessive with him.  But thatâs also less of a hateship than GinxBells would be.  GinxGatz has the tendency to be affectionate, even with their rocky past, I donât see that happening with GinxBells.)Lie to them? Yes | No Cuddle after sex? Yes | No
(More conversations between Gin and her cousin, @blackwaldrogue, before Gin goes off to find @captainbelysa.)
âWeâre here, obviously,â Lyda indicated Bradensbrook on her map, plucking a small flower that had just bloomed off her arm to mark it. Â âAnâ thâWorld Tree is here.â Â Another flower was placed on the map.
âYâsaid thâTemple oâ Elune âere âas some corrupted roots near it, aye?â
âMm...probâly thâfastest route for you to take would be the road from Bradensbrook to the Temple.â Â Lydaâs voice was calm, and it seemed to be calming Gin down some. Â If only because the witch had been muttering spells underneath her breath to calm her cousinâs mind. Â âYouâve no idea where in the roots her body lies, do you?â
Gin shook her head, letting out a frustrated sigh. Â âNo...buâ ah can track âer, know ah can.â
âThe area is heavy with the scent of corruptionâŠâ
âAhâll find âer, Lyda.â
Lydaâs eyes flashed briefly, the only sign of anger the otherwise calm witch would show. Â âCalm yourself, Ginny. Â If she is at the base of the World Tree, you will need tâgo farther north west...towards the Dream Grove here.â Â Another flower.
Gin just stared at the map, already plotting her course to the Tree.
âI wish yâwouldnâ go alone, Ginny.â
âAh canâ put anyone else in danger, yâknow thaâ.â
( @captainbelysa for storyline things, in which Gin reunites with her cousin @blackwaldrogue before going off to DOOM.)
ValâSharah.
It reeked of corruption, not just of fel, but of Shadows.
âVirginia.â Â Gin turned, meeting the familiar honey gold eyes of her cousin, just shifting out of her worgen form. Â âWhatâre you doinâ here?â Â Her arm creaked as the branch twisted back into a human shape.
âCould ask thâsame oâ you, mate. Â Didnâ yâgive up tha whole âArvest Witch thing?â
The rogue witch smiled, pulling the guard to the side to speak. Â âYouâve a purpose.â
âAye.â
Various bottles clinked together in the witchâs bag as she sorted through it, looking for something specific. Â âI may no longer practice...well, fully, but thâNightmare is dangerous. Â Everythinâ is out of balance, Ginny. Â One false move anâ youâll be stuck.â Â She pulled out a vial, looking at the contents before handing it to Gin. Â âTo clear your mind. Â Itâs loud and distracted.â
âWhy dâyou always knowâŠ?â
âOne oâ mâmany gifts...â
Gin just rolled her eyes, but accepted the vial. Â âThank ya, Lyda.â
âMm. Â Be careful, Ginny.â Â She paused, reaching to brush a strand of raven hair from Ginâs eyes. Â âIâll keep a look out for Terrick...anâ yâknow as well as I that Nait is excellent with children. Â Theyâll know their parents.â
Gin wasnât so sure, but she nodded in agreement. Â âGotta map oâ this place, dâya?â
