Gah, that's hard! Here are a few off the top of my head, since I can't pick just one: Dan Simmons, Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, Orson Scott Card, J.K. Rowling, and Richard Bach.
Cats! I've had them all my life, and I love my little-squishy-shitty-monster-kitty-girl to absolute pieces. She's a little shit to our other cat, so we call her Monster or Beastie, even though her actual name is Mia. She's the sweetest lapcat EVER.
3. Tell me about the best teacher you ever had.
Oh, boy, that's a hard one. To be completely honest, every year I dub my current english teacher as my most favorite teacher ever, even though I still hold my old teachers to the same high esteem. I always seem to be able to connect to my english teachers on a much more personal level than their other students, and we somehow always end up good friends. Every once in a while, I'll go to talk to my freshman year honors english teacher, and we'll end up talking for HOURS about anything and everything. She even confides in me about her current students and the aspects she dislikes about the school. Needless to say, english is my strongest subject, and I'm usually a sort of "teacher's pet", if that's what you'd like to call it.
There is one teacher I feel that I should mention in particular, though. Her name is Andrea, and she was my teacher from when I was 2 years old until I was 11. She ran a very small Montessori elementary school our of her house, and she was one of the biggest influences on who I am. The way Montessori works is that the teacher observes the child and how they play when they are very young, and they teach them based off of what they like to do. I liked to read, so that's mostly how she taught me. She is almost single-handedly responsible for my love of words, and had me reading at a college freshman level when I was 11. I read The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand when I was 10. Of course, I didn't understand all of the anti-communism stuff, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. When she retired and I went on to middle school, she gave me a thesaurus that she had filled with pictures of me when I was little, slips of paper with little memories written on them, the recipes we used to bake from every Wednesday, and TONS of meaningful quotes interspersed throughout the whole thing, each corresponding to a word on the page it was written on. In the front, she stuck a letter she wrote to me about how she hoped for only the best things for me in life and that I always would have a great love of words and learning. I actually found the thesaurus the other day after years of having forgot about it, and it made me cry. She was such a special person to me, as much a best friend as a teacher, and I owe her so much. Phew... that was long and now I'm going to cry just thinking about it!
4. When you were 10-years-old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I think it was... either a naturopathic doctor or a marine biologist... I forget exactly which it was when I was 10
5. Who are your top 5 favorite fictional characters of all time?
WHAAATTTT this is impossible!!! I don't think I can rank them, so here are five in no particular order: Hermione Granger, Dean Winchester, Sherlock Holmes, Bean (Ender Series), and the 10th Doctor.
6. If you became the Doctor's new companion, where/when would you want to go first?
Hmm, I'd like to either see the formation of the moon when a Mars-sized planet crashed into Earth, any time before humans came along so I could see all the crazy flora and fauna without civilization, or just some random planet way in the future.
7. What are you most looking forward to this coming year?
Well, probably the fact that I'm taking 3 music classes this year: marching/concert band, honor choir (it's auditioned and it's called Excalibur), and I recently got chosen as one of 2 pianists for our school's elite jazz band :) That and the Sherlock Seattle convention in October!!!
8. What's the last movie you watched?
The Emperor's New Groove :)
Yes! Hence the honor choir. I'm actually considering doing piano/vocal covers of some of the Chameleon Circuit songs in the near future.
10. Tell me why you picked the icon picture you currently have.
Ummm, because it's Sherlock and he looks damn sexy?
11. What was the best gift you ever received?
Either my car, because being able to drive myself places is the best thing ever, or the huge stack of astrophysics/physics books my parents got me for Christmas. There aren't many things that can get me more excited than talking about Hawking Radiation of string theory, except for maybe fandom stuff :)

3. What kinds of things do decorate your room with? (i.e. posters, trinkets, action figures, stuffed animals, whatever floats your boat)
4. If you could pick one fictional character to be your best friend, who would it be?
5. Do you play any instruments?
6. What's one thing you find really awesome about yourself? Boast for me!
7. With which song are you currently doing the thing where you love it so much you listen to it on repeat nonstop until you can't stand it anymore?
