4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Okay, let’s think... I’d choose steak. Like a gigantic fucking ox steak, with rock salt, a side of fries and red peppers. And of course, bloody, don’t give me that medium-rare or well-cooked bullshit.
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
I’ll give you three in each of my two native languages (even if my mother tongue is Spanish)
Spanish: Sobremesa, which is the time you spend in the table with people after a meal. Sirimiri, which means some kind of unending very very light rain that ends up getting people super wet. Ornitorrinco, which means “platypus”
Basque: Maitemindu, which means “fall in love”, but is a compound verb formed with “love” and “pain”. Pitxin, which means “darling”, a word I use every day with my students. Ama, which means “mum”, because I love my mum
10. most enjoyable swear word in your native language?
Me cago en Dios, which means “I shit on God” (I know it’s super blasphemous but booooy does it sound good coming out
27. favourite national celebrity?
This is suuuper hard, let me think. I’ll go with... Oh okay, I got it, Karlos Argiñano, he’s a basque cook that has a fucking empire. He has his own cider brand, he has a daily TV show on national TV, and he does lots of things behind the scenes on TV. His sister is a pastry chef, and his son, his fucking son makes the BEST croissants EVER. Like, for real you have to come visit one day and I’ll take you to JA! (the name of this dude’s son’s bakery)
