Yes. Well... *turns red* You see.... you were kind of handsome... but stalkerish.. at first sight. So I was a tinsy winsy bit annoyed.

last time she had seen captain simcoe he had worn red and that horrible white wig. ( all the wigs looked incredibly stupid in her opinion but one must be careful. people here seemed to be easily offended these days ) to say that he wasn’t a handsome man would be a lie but actually seeing his real hair surprised her a bit as he rode into setauket in green uniform and quite a stupid hat. “welcome back, captain simcoe.” the woman greeted him. ever since anna’s husband had left she helped her where she could even if it meant to deal with drunk british soldiers all day to night.

He felt surprised, never having noticed this woman before, though clearly she was well aware of him. “I have been busy,” he admitted. “More so that I had realized, I am afraid I do not know your name.” He hoped they had not been introduced before.

Some of those who knew her might find it a surprise, but Thera was quite good at staying beneath notice, of being just another face in the crowd. A worthwhile trait during wartime, when everyone was on edge and a woman alone was suspicious enough.

“Theresa Landsend, sir.” She hesitated briefly, then held out a hand. “In Setauket a short while, until the roads are safer to travel.”

Mary bit her tongue as she glared up at the man before her. She wanted to come off as tough and unafraid, but he was so much larger than her, there was an obvious struggle for power. “You know, sir, I cannot.” A little smile crept up around Mary’s lips at her response to him and her eyes twinkled before she turned from him.
