Official Briefing

She wanted to tell Laura gently, but she still didn’t have it fully straight in her head. Luckily, she had more than an hour until she had requested Laura come to her office. The curtains were open to let in the morning sun on the tiny room where she sat at a desk pressed up below the windowsill, writing down notes. She needed to remain busy, or she would certainly go insane with worry. Logan was missing. This was irrefutable fact at this point. They had checked in as they were leaving the X-Mansion for the second leg of their journey, and then not a word.
Things needed to continue to move. They would have to plan the sweep of the new house without the aid of Iron Man and the Wolverine, because there was no time to delay at this point. She started over on a new page, drawing up another alternative. She was so absorbed that she barely heard the knock at her door. A pause to register the sound, and she called out, “Come in, the door is open.” She slid the chair away from the desk so that she could stand and give her guest a proper greeting. She just hoped that Laura had not come early, she wasn’t entirely ready to give her the news.
