Fake dating Amos would be a fucking riot because i headcanon him as totally able to fake more normal social skills when he feels like he needs to, for short periods of time. So if he thinks that what you need is an affectionate and charming man-bear to tuck you under his arm and dote on you all night, for the benefit of watching eyes... that smile will just melt your heart even if you know there’s nothing behind it. I try to give Sig a certain vibe of chillness, or self-awareness that comes with doing the seriously hard work of getting your mind in a good place. If she knew it existed, she’d be doing yoga every morning to center herself ;-) She’s still got a lot to learn though. She can still experience major setbacks.
One of the things I love most about her is that she was strangely inspired, at least partially, by the X-Men. I know that sounds a bit cray, but I always loved the idea of mutants who were cast out by society, coming together to learn how to control their abilities, and rising above. Owning it. Sig viewed “The Sight” as a handicap when she was little, a curse (like a lot of mutants), and she’s now learned how to control it better. She can harness it.
She definitely learned from a school of thought that was equal parts Professor X and Magneto. I write her as if she were a less powerful Jean Grey (definitely no telekinesis, no phoenix force). I never want to make her too powerful and I always try to make sure there’s a price when she delves deep into magic.
That’s the comic book nerd in me ;-)
She’s also a bit inspired by The Mists of Avalon. That’s the fantasy novel nerd in me.
I love exploring and writing all that magical shit.
