So I see you are watching Supernatural. I have considered it, but Tumblr makes it seem like nothing but "gay, gay, gay, sad, shipwar" is there more to the show? What is it actually like?
Y’know this is sort of a tricky question so excuse me as I ramble a bit about the show because I’ve a lot of thoughts about it.
The fandom is a part of the “Big Three” (Sherlock, Doctor Who, and then Supernatural)- AKA, Superwholock. I personally cannot stand the Superwholock fandom, although I love Sherlock, enjoy DW casually, and, as you can see, really love Supernatural.
My advice is to stay out of the fandom. That’s what I’m doing, and so far I’ve really been enjoying the show!!! There’s some problematic moments and elements, definitely (re: gay jokes, religion, racism, sexism), but all in all it’s enjoyable! It’s not for everyone, I know this for a fact, and it’s sort of an acquired taste to be honest. The writing can be clumsy and things can be ridiculous at times, but most paranormal shows are.
There’s a lot of gore and quite a few sex scenes, too, so if that’s not your thing you might wanna reconsider.
TLDR; can be problematic, interesting but sloppy at times, fandom is pretty intimidating but I’ve met some lovely people, gory and with quite a bit of sex.
It’s not as sad as people will tell you though.
