I headcanon that Newton and his dad can’t eat food due to them not having real mouths (only a glowy wire in their bulbs) but Nana Pud still likes having family dinners so she makes food for everyone anyway and the cats come up on the table to eat Newton and Captain Pud’s food since they can’t eat it themselves.
This would also tie in nicely with her cooking rats, it makes a lot of sense if the food is also (or predominately) for the cats :D
They wouldn’t starve because I also headcanon that sackfolk don’t need to eat normal food because they are sustained by imagination energy instead :]
