[that Janeway thread always kills me]
@capt-kathryn-janeway
She shot him a look that said she thought his preoccupation with her hair was more than a little peculiar. Yet, some part of her was…pleased, even a little flattered, by his comment.
“I used to keep it long,” she admitted, a bit awkwardly. “But it– didn’t suit command. At least not in these circumstances.“
“ CIRCUMSTANCES ? and what circumstances don’t allow for hair a little longer, if i might ask. ” MILITARY people, as much as loki knew, seemed to think ‘ professional ’ meant cropped hair & uniforms. especially HUMANS —— always so fond of conformity & order.
“ short is more practical i suppose. mine can get rather frustrating at times. ” loki didn’t mention the fact he could, of course, magically change his hair at any moment ( he could have a little EMPATHY, hmm ? ).
❝A little warning would have been nice!❞
“He was about to shoot you. Are you going to complain?”
{ @capt-kathryn-janeway. }
“Captain Janeway,” Seven Of Nine said, leaning over the captain, “You lost consciousness. I suspect the rest of the crew is in similar condition. I have been unable to contact the bridge, engineering, or sickbay. We appear to be suffering a ship-wide power outage.”
Fandom: Star Trek, post Voyager Characters: Kathryn Janeway, Q Notes: Implied J/Q (at least in one direction anyway) if you squint. One day I was on some forum and saw people talking about how they always thought Kathryn’s story would have ended best if she became a member of the Q Continuum. Not sure how I feel about that, but it did inspire this little scene. Fair warning, I wrote this quickly and never revised it.
“Shouldn’t I be assigned a mentor?”
Q finishes molding a river, letting it flow from them to completion before halting in their world building to regard the Q formerly known as Admiral Kathryn Janeway. “Obviously. Once I find someone to pawn you off on, you’ll be the first to know.”
you may already know this but i did not so i thought i'd share. apparently john de lancie wanted to be in voyager more but the writers said no because they were super concerned janeway and q would end up romantically involved. de lancie didn't see why that would be a problem, and the writers said "you could send them home" and de lancie said "so? here's how that conversation would go: "kathryn: do you know the way home? q: yes Kathryn: will you show me? q: no" i just thought that was funny and super accurate
capt-kathryn-janeway:
“Johnny,” she asks incredulously, scoffing at the very idea of anyone calling Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the Enterprise Johnny. But of course, Q would. She can’t imagine her fellow captain reacts favorably to the name.
“You certainly seem very familiar, and as I recall have spent a considerable amount of time on the Enterprise to have such a low opinion of her captain.” She didn’t buy it. If she ever got back to the Alpha Quadrant… When she got back to the Alpha Quadrant, there would be no one better to compare notes with when it came to Q than Picard. She hoped she would have the chance someday.
“Clearly,” she replied dryly. “–Why don’t you just tell me what you really want here, Q?”
“I staked my entire reputation,” which is actually a huge deal in the Continuum, thanks very much-- not that Q cares what any of Them think, but ending up as Continuum whipping post and dirty work do-er for eons isn’t a fond memory, “or rather, in terms you may understand, my whole career on that insufferable little upstart because I wanted to help, and he almost blew the survival of your species multiple times out of stubborn arrogance and sheer refusal to open his mind just to get back at me.”
The annoyance tinged with the slightest bit of anger serves well to mask... whatever it is Q’s feeling, anyway. And normally they’re pretty thick skinned, what with spending countless hundreds of billions of centuries with the Q, and they realize Kathy probably doesn’t even really mean it, but that last comment gets to them for whatever reason.
“What is with you people?“ Starfleet, maybe. Q’s not sure what they mean. “Go on and on about your tolerance and understanding and intergalactic kumbayas, but the moment you can’t fit someone into your limited little frame of reference, it’s all ‘what do you want’ and paranoid suspicion!”
"Stop being so ridiculous."
“Or maybe you should stop being so dreadfully serious all the time.”
Which she should. Obviously Q knows best.
“You’re almost as bad as Picard.”
