Top 5 animated Batman films!

Return of the Joker, still my favorite, I think, even though I'm not really invested in the actual A-plot of Terry because I just never really watched Batman Beyond. But it's a testament to the strength of the writing here that it works totally on its own. The Joker is at his most terrifying here, and the finale is just heartbreaking and amazing and perfect, and it's just always going to be one of my favorite arcs. 

Under the Red Hood, SERIOUSLY GREAT. I love John DiMaggio's performance as the Joker, and there's great voice acting all around, really. (Vincent Martella plays baby!Jason, and his younger brother plays younger!baby!Jason! I ADORE IT.) It's beautifully adapted, and nothing will kill you more quickly than Jason's FAAAACES. :( :( :( Breaking my heart. Breaking it. 

The Dark Knight Returns, Parts 1 and 2, the story is really bizarre in the way a lot of Frank Miller stories tend to be, and I still haven't read the comic, but it's so audacious that it rides on that momentum the whole time, and there's not a single dull moment. I love Carrie Kelley's presence SO MUCH, so even though it's a very ~gritty film, it retains Bruce's essential humanity by valuing that connection he has with the young men and women he inspires. Michael Emerson's Joker is amaaaaaze, and this is just one of those films that left me breathless at times. Definitely worth a watch. 

Year One, which is one of my favorite comic stories, and the only complaint I have about the film is Batman's voice actor, who just felt so lifeless to me. BOO. But it's worth it for the story and there's fantastic imagery throughout. 

The Lego Movie, obviously. (This is a copout because I haven't seen some of the original DCAU films in years, like SubZero or Mask of the Phantasm. I'm really hoping Assault on Arkham is good enough to make the list, but we'll see.)

Holix (steeples fingers)

so I'm the worst and have only seen the first season (with the exception of the finale), so I'm just basing them on what I've seen

but they're so precious. they're both hypercompetent in what they do, and that level of professionalism is something they can both respect in each other. i love that holiday gets six to see the world differently--he's the first one to jump on board with her "cure" theory, and even though they would both be willing to make enormous sacrifices to do what's best for society, they both seek out the most humane and compassionate option first and foremost. and they get roped into looking after this kid, and they have to be the best influences in his life because there's no one else, and their accidental parenting roles bring me endless joy. 

and it's really upsetting to see six burying any feelings he might have for holiday under six to eight layers of robotic indifference. "you look ... nice." shut up, six!!! you know you're into her. just the missed opportunities between them are really sad. but i love that they just seem to be really good influences on each other, in all kinds of capacities, and they're just really bad at expressing their emotions because they feel like they can't afford them. they're just one bad mission away from losing each other, and it's just. really sad. :(

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which is a film, of course, but I think it counts

Puella Magic Madoka Magica

Attack on Titan, only because my brother is so massively disappointed with it and wants me to back him up on it, haha

Cowboy Bebop, which I've heard is good

Spice and Wolf

Oh, goodness.

Not as flawless as Kevin Conroy!Batman, but like, Lego!Batman is probably my second favorite. CHECK OUT THESE SUBWOOFERS.

Yeah, I need to make a much more concentrated effort on making myself eat more fruit. I have to trick myself into it sometimes, but if that's ALL I buy at the grocery store, I'll HAVE to eat it, haha.

And within the show: Sgt. Hatred/Princess Tiny Feet, I really can't tell if there's any consent at all, and it's one of the few things I think they took too far. :/

OTP: Fakir/AhiruBrOTP: Mytho/Ahiru, it's probably the only ship I genuinely see as platonic.OT3: Fakir/Mytho/Ahiru/Rue. I can't leave anyone out, please. NOTP: ????

Should Monarch and Doof happen to come together on a scheme... Can you imagine the crazy (cuz even after finishing season 1 of Venture, I think even Monarch and his gang would be a bit weirded out by a platypus in a fedora).

Oh, Doof would never hear the end of it. “We have to deal with Brock Fucking Samson, and you can’t handle a little … rodent-critter there…” Then Brock and Perry would show up together, and they’d know each other (Brock just gives him a grave nod of respect—“working with professionals now, huh, Monarch?”) and after that they’d at least be on board with the idea that Perry’s incredible, and bonus! actually not as mindlessly murderous as Brock can be! They’d honestly prefer a trade. 

The Monarch, at least, knows better than most how much animals can become part of your family. He was raised by butterflies, after all, and I’m sure he and Doof would get a kick out of sharing their bizarre upbringings with each other. Dr. Girlfriend would think of Doof as their weird nephew even though he’s older than both of them, and she’d make him feel at home after he’d finished (figuratively) comparing dick sizes with his new partner. And honestly, having Doof on board any scheme would be great because the Monarch has no idea how any of his gadgets work, and Doof is a little more mechanically inclined than even Dr. Girlfriend, so together, they’d probably be able to pull off something awesome.
