hello, everyone! i’ve been receiving several asks asking about “Capturing the... Princess?” along the lines of, ‘has everyone been cast?’ ‘how's it going?’ and while things aren’t going BAD, things are going mostly great, but a little... weird?

in a VERY strange turn of events, i am going to have to reopen auditions, for, not everyone, but specifically only keith. (all of the other parts have been cast, thank you to everyone who tried out!) SO. here goes. ROUND TWO.

Is there any update on the audio drama?

actually, nonny… yes! there is good news and bad news. good news is: i had a bunch of people dm me, and we finally have a keith! bad news is: there’s not a finalized cast list yet. 

here is why: somehow i missed one audition when i was listening to everyone’s auditions originally, so finally i gave their audition a listen, and they were really good at lance. that means now, i’m torn between two different people for lance, the person i originally cast, and this new possible lance. so i just need a little more time to figure that out. 

note: i may reach out to the two lance finalists to redo some stuff if i can’t decide from just these two audios. but overall, yes! progress is being made, and i’m really looking forward to seeing everything come together :D

CAPTURING THE... PRINCESS? UPDATE (8/15/17)

BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO APPLIED FOR A VOICE AUDITION! In total, I received over 60 unique applicants signing up collectively for roughly 150 character auditions, which is AMAZING! I had no idea this little project was going to pull in so much of a draw! So, thank you!

Anyhow, sign ups came to a close around midnight last night, and the last of the scripts were sent out this morning, but just to make it fair to those who applied later in the game...

THE DUE DATE IS EXTENDED TO AUGUST, 24TH, 2017!

So for those of you who DID sign up for an audition, I need your recordings by August 24th, 2017, and of course they must meet all of the requirements from the original post. That about covers everything for this update...

I'm sorry to ask, but do you have any tips for auditioning? I'm incredibly nervous and unsure if I'll be able to get the voices right. Thank you.

hey there, nonny! it’s ok to be nervous! i definitely can type up a good set of tips that should help both you, and other auditioners that might feel the same way! let’s break it down :)

VOICE ACTING TIPS FOR AN ONLINE AUDITION

remember to breathe! just slowing down and breathing, or doing some breathe in 1 2 3, breathe out 1 2 3, exercises can really help!

stay hydrated! keep a water bottle near you and when you feel your mouth go dry, just take a sip and get focused again! …just be careful not to spill it!

remember, these auditions aren’t live, you mess up? so what! you can record your audition over and over again, and i would never even know, so that pressure is off!

FANDOM SPECIFIC VOICE ACTING TIPS

you want to feel like you’re doing the characters in the show more justice? maybe rewatch some episodes and practice with some canon lines, THEN try to take on the fan script once you feel ready for it :)

a lot of VAs like to “get in character” so another fun thing to do is pretend you really are that character for a little before you start, even if that sounds silly, it can totally help!

lastly, as i said before, if you would prefer to put your own spin on the way the character speaks, rather than making it sound exactly like canon character, that’s okay too! (details here)

so for the auditions when you say diff inflections you mean. . .?

ah, ok! this is a voice acting thing, so it’ll be a little hard to explain over typing, but i will try my best for you, nonny!

READING FOR A LINE WITH DIFFERENT INFLECTIONS

so, say you had to say this line:

“what are you doing here?”

on the first reading you might say: “what are YOU doing here.”

but on the second reading you might say: “what are you doing… HERE?!”

while on the third it might be “WHAT… are you doing here?”

reading that in your head, did you hear the difference? changing up how you say the line can be very important! if could be the difference between you almost making the cut, versus you actually getting the part! i hope this comes across in writing, and i hope it helps both you, and others auditioning!
