So today I was more or less forced to catch an Uber. But that’s not the bad part (I hate Uber and how they unemployed taxi drivers via an app). The bad part is, they sent a Tesla! I asked for another vehicle because I’ve always said that I wouldn’t be caught dead in one (see any of my recent posts tagged ‘Tesla’ or ‘Tesla cybertruck’), but the next nearest next available car was more than 15 minutes away, and unfortunately time was of the essence. So I had a decision to make, really quickly.
I rolled the dice. I had to be on time, or, as someone who isn’t independently wealthy, I would have suffered some life altering consequences. So yeah, as much as I didn’t want to, I said yes to the Tesla.
BUT …!!
When the driver arrived, before I got in, I asked him if he knew where the hidden door release was for the back door. Dude had no fucking idea what I was talking about. So I broke it down for him and explained it to him like he was two: “If this death trap of a car unexpectedly catches fire and the doors automatically lock, how tf do I get out of the back seat? Where is the emergency door release?”
He had no idea where it was and was completely unaware that he might be locked inside if his vehicle suddenly lost power or spontaneously combusted, and said that no one had ever asked him about this before.
So we killed about 3 or 4 minutes and went to YouTube University to find the emergency door release for his specific Tesla model.
SN: The shit is wayyyy more complicated than it needs to be, and Elon Musk is an overrated grifting idiot who wouldn’t be lauded a fraction as much if he was a Black man with the exact same ideas and “accomplishments”.
The driver was actually very nice and thanked me repeatedly for my dogged insistence to show me.
Anyway, please never ever ever get into a tesla, but if you ever find out that you simply must, please make sure that you know how to get out in an emergency. And god help you if you’re intoxicated, or unconscious and locked inside of a Tesla casket on wheels.

Every year, California wildfires chew through forests, neighborhoods, and entire communities like a blowtorch on a bender.
