These car window hanging signs are 15cm square with rounded corners. They are supplied with a small hole in one of the corners so they hang in a diamond shape.

The small sucker supplied allows them to be fixed to inside car windows or other flat smooth surfaces.

A Danish advertising agency created this amazing ad for the local zoo which gives the viewer the illusion that a huge constrictor snake is crushing the bus. All I can say is...WOW!

No more dragons

Unless its 1991, or you just purchased a temp tattoo from a vending machine, or you’re the “Uncle Rico” type from Napoleon Dynamite, there’s more to car personalization than flames n’ dragons.   We too love a good  muscle car with some bulldog graphic and quote like “bad 2 tha bone.”  But it’s also cool to see other choices than the stereotypical vague tribal print with skull or curvaceous female silhouette.  

Clothes, homes, and professions say a lot about a person.  So should their car.  With the boom of personalization in every form, it’s much easier to show your personality through your everyday items.  Take the MTV show “Pimp My Ride” as an example.  After the narrator shows how needy the car makeover candidate is for a transformation, then Xhibit blows their mind with the once in a lifetime opportunity for their crap car to turn awesome, the said participant gawks at their car upgrade and shows the world “who they really are!”  Finally no one is paying attention to the fact that I drive a discontinued 1985 Yugo GV, but they all see I love cats and chocolate fountains!  Yipee!

Car personalization is no longer just for car enthusiasts.  Love art? Let it be known with your Monet-inspired Toyota.  Are you into surfing the waves at Bells Beach, Australia?  Then you should probably see the soon-to-be remake of Point Break (side note: Hologram in Swayze, ok?).  Also show it off on your car with globally inspired beach artwork.  Whatever it is that represents you, you can easily personalize on your car.

Even Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have (slightly) different personal styles. So of course the millions of drivers on the road are unique individuals. Showing off who you really are through your car is a fun way of self-expression.  Since we don’t all have beer guts and mullets, our car stickers don’t have to either.

Cars are boring

Unless you’ve got a Ferrari, Porsche, or other luxury or exotic car, cars are basically the same.  Boring!  There’s no excitement for the vast majority of us driving a standard sedan, van, or SUV. No excitement, no personality; just boring!

Look around the next time that you are stuck in rush hour traffic, or the next time your car is parked in the army-like rows at the mall.  Your basic Toyota Corolla probably looks exactly the same as the one stuck next to you. Isn’t it hard to identify your Mazda 3 in the sea of cars parked around it? They all look pretty much the same; and they say nothing about the person sitting behind the wheel. 

We strive to stand out in every aspect of our lives.  There are plenty of opportunities to personalise just about anything:  the way we dress, the music we jam to, our phone cases. For example, you can design your own one-of-a-kind pair of shoes by Nike, use Spotify to build your favorite music playlist, choose award winning t-shirt art at Threadless, and even order a custom-made cereal mix for your personal breakfast.  We spend so much time in our cars, why not have an easy option for customisation and personal preferences on our vehicles?      

Here’s a quick analysis of why we don’t customise our cars:

Car makers are extremely limited in the customisation options that they are able to offer due to their scale of economy.

Most of the after-market solutions target a specific crowd of car enthusiasts; neglecting diversity in design.

People are afraid of harming their cars with unknown materials that may affect their car value.Most of the existing solutions require professional help in the application which significantly increases its cost.

Being a design lover, and an engineer, I felt frustrated about the situation. There is a lack of suitable options for the average person to personalise their car.  I see a huge opportunity here to make a significant impact for those wanting to dress up their cars.  Even with whatever challenges lie ahead, I can’t wait to bring StickOut to the people; and I’m even more excited to see the future of personalised cars on the road!
