Week of 3/27
This week I want to write about the week I've had.
This week started with an unnecessary car issue. Apparently, some kind of thing within my transmission stopped working. I don't know anything about cars despite my dad being a mechanic, so the second my car started being weird I called my dad with tears in my eyes. He told me there was nothing he could do from so far away, living 5 hours from me. I took my car to a mechanic and they slapped me with a whopping 800 dollar fee. Shockingly, for once, I had the money to cover that. I wanted nothing more than to see my car have a major problem cost no moer than $100. However, life is not about wants.
In reflecting, I think about how poorly this could have gone. What would've happened to me if I were to not have had the money I needed to fix it? What would have happened if my car was worse, possibly the engine which could easily cost upwards of $2,000? This has brought light to an entirely new issue, and I now know that saving money is much more serious than it was before and I should take it seriously. I should probably in the future take this more seriously so that I can make sure I don't run into this type of shocking problem again. Had I had money saved, this would not have been as devastating to me. Financially, I will be okay. But mentally, I was worried for so long because I was scared my car was absolutely done for. As Tiger King once said, "I'm never gonna financially recover from this." (Either that, or I won't be able to buy starbucks for at least a few months :( )
