So I do want to get back to this at some point, but to tell the truth, I've been feeling burnt out of long form Disney comics, like this one and Wicked Prince. I'm proud of the stories, but none of my long form fan comics have gotten the kind of traction/interest that my silly brain feels motivated to keep going with them for now.
I feel like I need to put the energy/time I can wrangle my ADHD brain into having into original projects just now. But thank you so much to everyone who's enjoyed these stories. One day maybe I'll come back to them 💛🤞
You can get the jist of everything I planned for Maleficent by reading my Villain Backstory for her, and the Wicked Prince plot by reading my Frozen 3 stuff.(...which it is not letting me link to the masterlist :/ But search #the wicked prince or #frozen 3 in my blog and you'll find it(
While You Were Sleeping (Beauty)
Yes, I was the one who cursed Princess Rosamund to die.
And yes, it was because they didn't send me an invitation to her christening.
And because there was no gold plate for me when I showed up anyway.
And also because I was seven, and a spoiled brat, and I expected to be treated with the dignity my title as the Elder Fairy deserved, despite having held it for only a week.
Granny was the Elder Fairy before me, and she'd been the Elder Fairy for as long as anyone could remember. Longer even than the current Oak Fairy had been in her title, and she was at least as old as the kingdom.
I don't know if she was my real Granny. She never talked about who my parents were, though I knew she'd had a daughter at one point. A prince had carried her off long ago, and Granny rarely ever spoke of her, though sometimes I'd catch her crying over an old cracked hairbrush.
I'd lived my whole life in Granny's tower, just her and me. Oh there'd been various cats of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments, assorted birds, some enchanted, some not. Occasionally a toad or two. But Granny overall kept to herself, in the old stone tower with no door nor ladder, in the deepest part of the Deep Dark Woods.
I admit, this choice of location likely made it extremely difficult for any messenger carrying said invitation to ever reach her.
But then again, if the wandering prince had managed to find his way there and make it back out while literally blind, then a professionally trained courier certainly could at least have tried.
As it was, she died the week before the Christening even happened.
So you can imagine, I wasn't in the best state of mind to begin with when I finally got to the party.
This isn’t crossover, but it’s WLW and in my opinion, underrated: Maleficent X Queen Leah?
I love Leah x Maleficent so so so much!!!
Gonna nerd out about fairy tales for a bit:
In some versions of Sleeping Beauty Carabosse (evil fairy before Disney) helps the king and queen to be able to conceive a child. This in combination with Carabosse being a man's role traditionally in the ballet comes off with Maleficent always being very trans coded to me, implying some relations with Leah.
Plus, if Maleficent were to have assisted in the conception of the child, it gives more reason for her to be angry with Leah and Stefan for not inviting her to Aurora's christening, and want to take her away from her parents. If I were a fairy and someone didn't appreciate my gifting them with a baby, and wanted to exclude me from public life and being seen with that baby and them, I would be pretty miffed too. Especially if I had caught feelings for the dutifully married queen.
I do think that this makes the story significantly sadder though than Maleficent just being vindictively murderous about not being invited to a party. A lot of transforming the queerness of villains from coding into text is like that though, which is part of why I think it's important to queer up the more het coded "good" characters too, queer people deserve some happiness!
Carabosse, designed by Léon Bakst. Fairy from "The Sleeping Princess", 1921. Vintage Photo.
Belladonna is a mysterious figure in the lore of the Land of Dawning. It is said that she cursed Princess Rose when she was a baby to an eternal slumber after being snubbed by the then royal family. She was known as a powerful fae or witch and is/was called The Lady of the Night by locals.
Not much is known of her or her history. Some say she was a powerful witch from the Land of Dawning, others a Nocturnal Fae from Briar Valley. Her legacy is well known within the walls of PHA, as it is said that even the one she cursed, Princess Rose, forgave her for her transgression against her.
