A few chilling descriptions/moments from Legendary.

He was like a moment in time; he could be experienced but never held on to.

-Tella thinking about Dante.

She tried to smile then. She was finally the hero. All it had cost her was everything.

-Tella when she sacrificed herself.

When you read a book and it physically and emotionally hurts to know that you'll never be a part of it or come across the characters, atleast not in the literal sense.

So, I have been reading this series called Caraval and I'm on Legendary at the moment and I couldn't help but literally feel like Taylor Swift's song called Wonderland PERFECTLY describes everything that's going on in that book.

Allow me to explain:

1) Flashing lights and we, took a wrong turn and we, fell down a rabbit hole.

From Scarlett's perspective-

This can be taken metaphorically. In Caraval when Scarlett's kidnapped by Julian and she wakes up on the boat with the sun shining on her face and eventually both of them have to jump off the boat since the boat has a hole in it.

This was the moment when things started changing for them. When they ended up in the Island Of Dreams and Scarlett didn't know what she had gotten herself into. The place where the supposed Wonderland all began but everything was not what it seemed.

From Tella's perspective:

Again this line doesn't have to be taken literally. It signifies when Tella without knowing what she is getting herself into, agrees to dance with Jacks and agrees with the part of his plan to prove to people that she is his fiancée only to realise he is The Prince Of Hearts.

So she is literally falling (dying) because of this.

2) You held on tight to me, cus nothing's as it seems. And spinning out of control.

From Scarlett's perspective-

This could literally mean Julian was holding on to her, cus at the time, nothing made sense to the both of them and everything was spinning out of control. With the trading secrets and missing sister and not knowing who Legend is.

From Tella's perspective:

Again, Dante is the one here trying to warn her (or is he?) And she has a huge price to pay after everything that happened in Caraval and her not succeeding in finding Legend's true identity.

3) Didn't they tell us not rush into things? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Haven't you heard what becomes of curious minds?

From both Scarlett's and Tella's perspective:

This line could be applied to the both of them at th same time. When Aiko or Julian or Dante or Nigel or Jovian warned them during the events of Caraval. Gave them clues and tried to remind them of the rules. And the green eyes reminds me of Armando. His emerald eyes were enchanting yet terrifying because he was playing the role of villain in Caraval.

4) Didn't it all seem new and exciting? I felt your arms twisting around me. I should've slept with one eye open at night.

*Disclaimer* since I am on Legendary, I can't say alot about Tella as if now. So things that might ring true now might change later as the story progresses.

From both Scarlett's and Tella's perspective:

Both of them were either too wary or not wary enough when it came to being careful about now being swept away in the game. Both of them should have been careful about who they were trusting. Both of them at some point in the story feel absolutely in awe and inspired by Legend's magic especially after getting the freedom they wanted.

5) We found Wonderland. You and I got lost in it and we pretended it could last forever. Life was never worse or never better in Wonderland.

From Scarlett's perspective-

This could hint towards her and Julian's relationship. They "found" Caraval together. They went on this adventure together. In the beginning during the events of Craval when he'd care for her that's what she wanted. There were times when she just wanted to hide in his arms and pretend that this little cocoon could be hers. This could also hint towards how she thought both Julian and her sister were gone for good but she didn't pretend that it would last forever. She genuinely thought it did. And during the events of Caraval, her life did seem better than her life back home but it was worse because she lost her sister and she had to win the game to find her all while saving herself from her dad and count as well.

From Tella's perspective:

She found Wonderland by writing letters to Legend. She got lost in it along with Jacks, Dante and her sister. And she pretended in the very beginning that the magic and the dreams that came with it could last forever. She pretended to be Jacks fiancée. Again, life was never worse because she has a heavy bargain on her head and if she didn't repay it she'd lose her mom and herself in the process. Because she knows she is cursed to have a unrequited love. But never better, because she finally has the freedom of choice, a clue as to where her mother is.

For now I'll keep it till here. I want to finish the series to better integrate everything that's happening properly in the song. Because the song itself is a masterpiece. Reminds me of Alice In Wonderland and Caraval.

Now that I have calmed myself down, I'd like to talk about the Caraval Series.

I am a huge fan of it. Every installment had something to offer. I absolutely adored the first two, which were Caraval and Legendary. And Finale perfectly tied them together. However I do have two things that were kind of problematic to me.

1) This was basically my fault but I decided to check the reviews before I divulged myself in the series and majority of the people wanted Jacks and Tella to be endgame. I, didn't get why and didn't want to get it either. But because of already reading the reviews I expected something grand to happen regarding Jacks and Tella that would completely shift her from falling in love with Legend to falling in love with Jacks. And throughout the book I was like, I don't see why people would want her to be with Jacks since he is toxic and I know a few will come to me and tell me that Legend was just as toxic but I, personally don't see it that way. Maybe because I always rooted for Legend and Tella to be endgame, maybe because I like them a little too much. But Legend never tried to manipulate her feelings as Jacks did. He pined over her as an obsession but Legend was flickering between obsession and love. And eventually he ended up choosing love and mortality. Again, this isn't the books fault. This is entirely my fault. I read the reviews and started assuming things.

2) I feel like the ending was a little rushed. I low-key wanted something grand to happen, something that would make us hold our breaths. I felt like there should have been alot of trouble before the Fallen Star was actually defeated. Yes they were tortured (Scarlett and Tella) but it was brief. It was less action and more talk. I would've liked if it followed the Caraval theme but that doesn't mean the book was bad. It was very good.

This is basically it. Other than that, I absolutely loved Tella's and Legend's relationship, I loved how strong and courageous both the sisters were and I loved that not all fates were bad. And I loved Legend's pov in the end.

All in all, the series is great. If you haven't read it, I'd definitely recommend it.
