After gathering my thoughts I have to say,

WHAT.IN.THE.WORLD.WAS.THAT.

Let me begin by saying the way Only A Monster is spun, it's absolutely unique storytelling and it had me grabbed by the jaws till the end. Please tell me we are all Team Aaron right? Nick needs to leaveeee.

Also I feel so hollow by the end of this book because SO much happened and Aaron was RIGHT there with our girl Joan but now nobody remembers anything 😭 Like I can FEEL the pain.

Plus I don't know how many will agree with me on this but Joan really is a monster. Because I genuinely felt like she was making choices selfishly thinking ONLY about her family and I know that isn't exactly a monster trait yet still. Like girl you need to CHILL and THINK for a moment instead of jumping to every possible solution.

Overall I AM HOOKED.

Team Aaron better be endgame or I will riot.

Like I am a 100 pages or so in the ONLY A MONSTER book by Vanessa Len but it's such a unique concept that it almost reminds me of the VICIOUS universe by V.E Schwab or A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC.

Honestly, I love it when characters relapse. When someone who’s gotten over their anger issues falls into a situation so out of their depth they fall back on their old habits. When someone who’s learned to open up becomes a recluse again in order to cope with something outside their control.

There’s just something so horrible, so toxic, about watching a character grow and then slip back into their old selves in order to cope, bc you know they still care, that they’re the same inside, but watching them hurt so hard they don’t know what else to do brings a sense of catharsis.

Honestly, it makes the character more relatable, more human and that hits harder than any descriptive scene. Because, how many times do we promise ourselves to be better but then something goes horribly awry and we spiral back into our old ways, uncaring, unfeeling. Just numb.
