A Friendly Word About Copyright
Thief! I kept getting this card combo when dealing with some very slippery. I thought it was metaphorical until this person stole my intellectual property, reworked it and published it under his name! Now I have to copyright everything I’ve written that he has in his possession protect myself — short stories, poems, dreams, my manuscript, visions and ideas I was throwing around.
It’s funny…

Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer; Infinite Loop Card Combo
Wrap-Up Screen After I Found This Combo [Image Credit: Screen Cap from Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer for iPad]
I know! I said earlier this month that I was going to be dedicating this month to reviews of cardcore games. This doesn’t count as a review, but I was playing Ascension the other night and found this killer card combo that creates an infinite loop that will allow the game to go on indefinitely, gathering all the Honor and cards you could possibly want! I figured you wouldn’t mind bypassing another review so you could get this bit of info.

I was playing the game on my iPad and took a screen grab of the game wrap-up screen that gives a little summary of how the game went and included it above. I would like to point out that at the time that I got bored with repeating the same turn over and over again, I elected to stop the game when I had 666 Honor. The number in the screen grab you are seeing above is with the value of the cards in my deck added to my 666 points. I can’t POSSIBLY be the first person to find this little trick, but I will go over it for those of you that are uninformed.
The version of the game I am playing, includes the “Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer” base set, plus the “Return of the Fallen” and “Immortal Heroes” expansions. I don’t believe it would have been necessary to have the “Immortal Heroes” expansion to make this combo happen. There are three cards that you need to make this happen, plus a condition or two for optimal usage.

The three main cards that this combo focuses on are the “Tablet of Time’s Dawn”, the “Hedron Link Device” and “Reclamax”. The “Tablet of Time’s Dawn” allows it’s owner to banish the tablet in order to take another turn after this one. The “Hedron Link Device” allows its possessor to count all Constructs as Mechana Contructs. “Reclamax” allows you to purchase Mechana Constructs from the Void as though they were in the center row. With these three cards in play, use the “Tablet of Time’s Dawn” to take another turn. Then use the “Reclamax” to go re-purchase the “Tablet of Time’s Dawn” from the Void. Using the “Reclamax” causes you to discard it, but not banish it. So start using card drawing ability to cycle through the rest of your cards until the “Reclamax” turns up again. You can do this before you end your turn or at the beginning of your free turn, the choice is yours. Once you end your turn, repeat this process.
Conditions for Combo Use: This combo is going to be most easily pulled off if you have a lot of card drawing and you’ve whittled you’re playing deck down to the essentials. Banish all those stupid “Apprentices” in favor of “Runic Lucanthropes” and “Deep Drones”, and those “Militias” for “Shade of the Black Watch”, “Spike Vixen” or even some decent Constructs. This will help move the process along as your deck isn’t filled with crap that will slow you down. In an ideal world, for me, I would be going through my entire deck every turn. Keep it simplified! Should you be able to do this, you can substitute “Dimension Diver” for the “Hedron Link Device”, since it is much more accessible. “Dimension Diver” also allows you to gain +2 Runes when it is played, so this is another good replacement for “Apprentices” and/or “Mystics”.

Other Cards That May Be Helpful: Once you’ve gotten into the groove of taking ALL the turns, you’ll want to capitalize on those turns. Some other helpful card would be the “Hedron Cannon”, “Cetra, Weaver of Stars” and “Sadranis, Dark Emissary”. These will allow you to acquire cards without having to spend “Runes” or defeat enemies that are already in the Void. Since Constructs tend to run heavy with this stratagem, go for the “Hedron Cannon”, since it gives you +1 “Power” for every Mechana Construct you control. Considering you have the “Hedron Link Device” in play, making all your constructs count as Mechana Constructs, “Hedron Cannon” becomes very useful!
That’s the “Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer” game breaker combo. Hope you get a chance to use it and conquer some faces!
