A delicious take on the traditional doughnut is these Cardamom Doughnuts. The sweet, fluffy dough is given a distinct and aromatic flavor by the fragrant cardamom. Ideal as a sweet treat with your favorite beverage or for breakfast.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 1/2 tsp ground cardamom. 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/4 tsp salt. 1/4 cup milk. 1/4 cup plain yogurt. 1 egg. 2 tbsp melted butter. 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Oil for frying.
Instructions: Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, cardamom, and salt in a mixing bowl. Mix the milk, yogurt, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Mixing until just combined, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Preheat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius. Drop heaping spoonfuls of the doughnut batter into the heated oil, and cook for two to three minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Using a slotted spoon, remove the doughnuts and drain on paper towels. For added flavor, feel free to roll the warm doughnuts in sugar or a combination of sugar and ground cardamom. Warm up some cardamom doughnuts and serve them to your guests.
