My (18F) bf (18M) just got out of surgery. How can I help him?
My (18F) boyfriend (18M) had his appendix taken out yesterday, and my mom is saying that we should make him a small care basket for him. While I love that idea, we've only been dating for a little over a month, and I don't want to freak him out. For a bit of context as to why I'm so worried about this in particular, I have recently become kind of anxious about our relationship. It's not that he's done anything, it's just like a switch in my mind has gone off. Maybe it's because we haven't seen each other in a few days, but I feel like a total weirdo freak whenever I reach out to him. His sister and I are good friends, and have been for a while before I started dating him, and his family apparently also likes me. I also feel bad, because he's a great guy and I don't want to weigh him down. All this being said, I know that you typically give people stuff after surgery (especially down here in the south), but I'm just worried that I'll be pushing him away. I'm planning to go today since his family is allowing his friends to come visit him. How can I make sure that I'm not inadvertently suffocating him? (Also, if I do give him a little recovery basket, what do I put in it?)
I think a nice care basket for someone recovering from a medical procedure is a nice thing to do for a stranger. I don't understand why there would be hesitation to do it for a partner or friend or family member unless they're abusive.
Something to do while lying in bed (like a sudoku book or pack of cards for solitaire), some things like protein bars or seeds and nuts that would be a good snack and help boost recovery, maybe a nice pair of socks, and a handwritten card would all be nice.
