THEY WEREN’T KIDDING WHEN THEY SAID today called for rain. The Spine’s not even sure if he would classify this as rain , as much as he would one solid wall of water that’s been crashing down on ENCOY for the last fifteen minutes or so. Even with one arm over his head it doesn’t make a difference in stopping him from getting soaked ── and while he can’t feel the rain , his clothes are far too expensive for him to be stuck out here. So , he runs as fast as he can ( which isn’t very , considering he walks like if a marching band could lag ) under the nearest cover.
JUST AS HE MAKES IT TO THE DRYEST SPOT he could find , lightning strikes literal inches away from him. The electricity crackles through him , and his head twitches with a variety of clicks and whirs. Great. Any closer and he probably would’ve short circuited. He looks at where he was just standing , and then up at the surrounding buildings. No lightning rods. Really seems like an oversight , but a lot of this place does.
THE SOLACE OF DRY LAND WAS WELCOME , and now all The Spine could do was drip dry and hope the rain ended soon. But as thunder rumbled and more lightning flashed in the distance , he figured it would be a while. Part of him cursed himself for not bringing his guitar ( it would’ve been a good way to pass the time , since he’s alone ) , but the logical part knows the water would’ve ruined it anyways. Besides , he’s not alone for long , as heavy metallic footsteps shake him from his thoughts.
THE ROBOT IMMEDIATELY HUNKERS DOWN BESIDE HIM , having to bend awkwardly to fit comfortably. Huh. And he thought he had it hard. The Spine has to crane his neck to get a good look at the stranger’s face , and he tips his dripping hat politely. ❛ Gee , and I thought I was a walking lightning risk. ❜
