Loved this quote, Jamie said this to Veronica. — Shades of Doon by Carey Corp and Lori Langdon
I finally finished my first attempt at creating a funko pop! I've been seeing a lot of people taking other funko a and creating characters that aren't made! I decided that it was time that there was a MacKenna from the Doon Series pop! Although it isn't perfect, and I have a lot to learn, I am so proud of how it turned out! Being my first, I was nervous of screwing up because she is one of my all time favorite characters! Honestly it turned out so much better that expected! @doonseries
Underrated YA Series
The Arcana Chronicles; Kresley Cole (many people debate whether this is YA or not; either way, there is “mature” content)
The Doon Quartet; Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon
The Madman’s Daughter Trilogy; Megan Shepherd
Shadow Falls Series; C.C. Hunter
Underland Chronicles; Suzanne Collins (this is a middle grade series, but are all still very good)
White Rabbit Chronicles; Gena Showalter
Doon, Carey Corp I'd learned from experience hoping for the impossible just ended in heartbreak

With her best friend Mackenna Reid now a permanent citizen of Doon, and her relationship with her prince and true love Jaime back on track, Veronica is certain things are finally right with her kingdom. Until she suddenly becomes ill, collapsing as the witch of Doon begins draining of her life. Desperate to save Veronica, Jamie will do anything—including casting a forbidden spell that trades his health for Vee’s recovery. As Doon celebrates the queen’s newfound health, Mackenna focuses on organizing a festival complete with theater productions. But just as her dream of bringing a musical to Doon comes to life, strange catastrophes begin to sweep the kingdom, and the once-unshakable Jamie’s behavior is becoming more dangerous and erratic as well, and soon he and his brother, Duncan, are at serious and seeming irreparable odds. It is left to Vee and Kenna to rescue Jamie from himself—but in doing so, they could forever alter Doon and give the witch the power she’s always craved.
Shades of Doon is the third book in the Doon series and it was amazing. I loved it and I think that it's my favorite out of all the Doon books. I had so many feels while I was reading it.
Every time I pick up a Doon book and start to read I forget how much I loved the story, the characters, the writing... all of it. I forget what a precious friendship Mackenna and Veronica have. How they have been together for a long time, have each others backs, think of what's best for the other person and so much more. They have a true friendship that so few people have and it's something that is truly special.
Veronica has grown more into her position as Queen and she has become a stronger person, I love that but she still had a little more to learn and more to grown and she got to do both in this book. She takes her experiences that she has in this book to better herself and make herself ready for what is to come. Veronica is still a little feisty, very caring and because she had to take care of her own parents I believe is what also had prepared her to be queen. Veronica is use to taking care of others and putting their needs before her own and I think readers will get a better since of that in this story.
The other half of Veronica, Mackenna. Mackenna is still just as passionate as she was before and maybe still just as lost. After everything she has been through Mackenna still doesn't quite feel like she has a place, like she fits in. She is trying and I love that you see her try a little more, for the sake of those she loves. I do question to why is it so hard for her and why does she feel out of place and while Mackenna does grow she still has a lot to work through and I hope I get to see that in the final book.
Carey Corp and Lori Langdon are amazing writers. To come up with the smaller individual plot in these books is marvelous. To come up with Doon and the characters in Doon to the plot, I know evil witch trying to take over a kingdom doesn't sound special but the little details and the twists in the plot make it very special. Well that and the MacCrae brothers. Duncan and Jamie are two totally different people but have the same values and a closeness that makes it very hard for me to chose one over the other and I will not chose, I will take them both.
Shades of Doon was so good, I loved it. There's action, magic, romance, fighting, mystery, visions, danger is made known, evil has come and the kingdom will be forever changed after this. I am so excited for the conclusion of this, I can't wait to get my hands on Forever Doon.
Overall ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What I Read in May 2017
What I Read in May 2017
This past month I was able to read two new books and reread one of my favorites:
I was pretty happy with the fact that I was able to read three books this past month considering that I was hoping only to finish Midnight in Broad Daylight before June arrived. I really enjoyed all the books I read (or in one case reread) and don’t know if I can chose a favorite for May.
