NO!! NO REVENGE!! I'M ONLY BEING A SUPPORTIVE FRIEND 😭😭
AND THIS IS A CUTE REVENGE DON’T WORRY:
Maria pushes herself away from the window sill, jumping out of her skin when she hears his voice
A curse leaves her lips the moment she turns to face him. “Jesus Christ! Will you stop doing your sneaky-fae thingy for one second? Almost killed me this time.”
Aidan chuckles. “Everybody hears me but you.”
“Everybody here is not human.”
He grins apologetically, and crosses the room to her, seeing what she was seeing
“You’re meddling,” he repeats, giving her a warning look, but full of playfulness
“I’m not meddling,” she says to him, looking down at the pair sitting in the garden. “I’m just…being a good friend.”
“Leave them be, my love. It is better if we do not get in between.”
“I’m not,” she insists, sighing. “You can’t blame me for worrying.”
Aidan gives her a smile. “Do you really think it’s worth worrying? Were you worried when we first began-”
“That was diferent,” María interrupts, giving him a look. “The mating bond wasn’t thrown onto me like that. I fell in love with you before I ever knew that there was ever a deeper connection. It might not be like that for you, and the fae, but us humans don’t…feel like you. It can be frightening. And it is.”
Aidan’s face softens, rid of its previous playfulness. He pulls his mate into his arms, gently swaying her from side to side. “Were you scared?”
María sighs once more, relaxing into him. “Yes,” she says truthfully. “I was terrified.”
He touches his lips to her head, then rested his chin on her shoulder. “Tell me. Help me understand.”
She pauses, hands touching his on her stomach. “When I first saw you,” she begins, “I thought I knew you. I was ready to shout your name before I pullef you into that sidewalk. Then I realized that I did not know it. That I didn’t know you. It was such a strange feeling. And then, when you stayed with me, it always felt so electrifying being around you. When I began feeling strongly towards you, it just felt like an avalanche. The worst thing in the world was when you left. For days, my mind couldn’t think of anything else but you. And your voice, and your eyes, and everything. I didn’t…I didn’t know what to do with myself. And you know how much i like to be my own person. And to suddenly feel like that…”
Softly, she touches his hand, and leads it to her lips. “I wanted you, yes. But us humans…we cannot fathom feeling so much. Sometimes I feel like my heart is going to burst. That’s scary. Knowing you are meant for someone, and that someone is meant for you…it’s a wonderful feeling, but it’s also a perfect glass statue that you’re terrified you’re gonna shatter.”
He slowly turns her to him, looking into her eyes. “Does it frighten you still?”
“Sometimes,” she says, wrapping her arms around his neck. “But most of the time, I’m just…blissfully happy.”
“Crazy fae instincts and everything?” He grins
She chuckles, touching her lips to his in a brief kiss. “I love the fae instincts.”
“You do?” He pulls away, eyes wide
“Well…I would rather not have you glare at every person who accidentally brushes against me-”
“That male proposefully walked into you-”
“Aidan, sweetheart, you do not show your fangs to the humans, they shit themselves.”
“He deserved it,” he says
María chuckles, touching his cheeks. “You mean well, I know it.”
He smiles, leaning down to kiss her, but stops a breath away. “I do.”
Aidan kisses the corner of her mouth, pulls her close, and they kiss once more
Long and sweet, taking her breath away
Afterwards he touches his forehead to hers; breathing the same air
They stay in silence for a while, until Aidan murmurs. “Do you ever imagine what life is going to be like in a few years?”
María smiles. “Sometimes. Why?”
He pauses, and María sees him hesitate
“What?” She says, touching his cheek. “Go on, tell me.”
Aidan takes a breath. “Do you find yourself…here?”
María seems to freeze. “In Velaris? Forever?”
“Aidan…” she pauses, touching both his cheeks. “I love you. But I also can’t…disappear. I have family. Friends. People who would call me insane if they knew who you actually were.”
He nods. “I understand, I…” he pauses. “But you can share a life with me, can’t you?”
She smiles tenderly. “Of course I can.”
“When you come here,” he says, “maybe you can come to our home.”
She blinks. “You got a house?”
He smiles, tracing her jaw with his thumb. “I have a place of my own from now on. A place you and me can share, everytime you come here. I will be part of your life, but I would never wish for you to leave behind your own. So whenever you want - you have a place. Here. With me.”
María closes her eyes momentarily, her heart colourful. Then, she touches her lips to his, and murmurs. “Thank you.” And then: “And you have a place with me. In my world.”
He smiles, “You want to share your home with me?”
María shrugs. “Eh, might as well.”
“Might as well?” He asks, cocking his head to the side. “Well, then, my darling. We might as well start preparing a wedding.”
“Do NOT even joke about it. I will NOT be married in my 20s.”
Aidsn shrugs, and gives her a dashing smirk. “I will keep trying.”
