HA i actually went to a jewish preschool (for no reason other than that it was close to my house) so i feel like our religions are just a natural pair~

Yeah, a close friend of mine is Catholic and we've been talking about religion a lot recently (during chem class when we should be doing chemistry ahaha).  She actually came to my synagogue the other day for shabbat.  She basically said the same thing, but she's not left the church or anything (although hey maybe this year she'll convert to judaism ;D)

Don't know about Nate, but DEFINITELY thanks for your feelings about the architecture and stuff. ~~

(2/3) No idea what denomination Nate was raised in but if he was Catholic, I could see why he'd be hesitant to talk about gay rights issues. Gay rights/women's rights was the reason why I left the Church at 16 (even though many people in our congregation were cool w/ gay rights... it's the papacy's issue) but you still feel this weird... insularity & devotion to the Church even if you don't believe in its dogma at all anymore. It's kinda like a creepy club.

(1/2) I was raised Roman Catholic, went to a Roman Catholic church every Sunday for 16 years. It's weird, it's hard not to be in awe of a place like that -- the statues/relics/stained/altars/music stun you into silence. I'm no longer religious but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss that. But it wasn't crazy/authoritarian like people assume Catholic churches are. Catholics are honestly fairly liberal as far as Christians go and I think I can say that with some authority.
