where and when: ty's place, carina's bday party

In a sincere bid to soothe some of the strangeness that had existed between them since the Stupid Cupid bar crawl, Ty had gone all out for his house party for Carina's birthday.

( The fog machine was more for him, true, but he had searched far and wide for the perfect birthday hat wearing Calico critter cake topper in the hopes of making her smile. )

He's got a pastel pink party hat to match the critter topper fixed off centre atop his own head as he seeks out the blonde guest of honour, locating her in the backyard in conversation with who he fast identifies as Drew. Chill.

He heads back inside to get another shot and dap up some more guests before he takes another lap outside to see the same conversation was ongoing. Less chill.

Another return trip inside -- this time with two shots consumed -- later and now he can't help the rising suspicion he has that the friendly chatter wasn't solely friendly.

It's not his business either way, even if the one thing he knows for certain is he's not a fan of the sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach at the idea of something happening between the pair of them.

By the time he's crossing paths with her twenty minutes later, his celebratory mood is as flat as the beer sloshing around red solo cup in his hand.

"Dayum, I thought you were having too much fun outside to grace us with your presence in here birthday girl."

With a quizzical look on his face, Ty takes in the sight of her lined up critters with sincere interest. He pokes the one that looks most like a bear and then looks to the blonde.

"So do you play with these things or is this like a voodoo type beat? Which one's me."
