Early Morning Conversation.

Harry opened his eyes and squinted into the early morning shadows of his bedroom. Reaching out automatically for his glasses, he shoved them on his face. Draco was standing beside their bed, trying, and failing, to dress quietly. 

It wasn’t any way to act on a Sunday morning, so Harry stuck out his hand, catching Draco’s wrist.

“What on earth are you doing?” Harry asked, voice raspy with sleep. “Merlin knows what the time is, love. The sun isn’t even up.”

“I’ve a million things I need to do today,” Draco answered, not making any effort to free himself from Harry’s grasp. “Finish the marking I’ve been avoiding. Get the veg prepped for lunch with Mum. Firecall with Pansy. I made a plan, Harry.”

Harry recognised the tension in his boyfriend’s voice. When things got a little too much, Draco’s thoughts would spiral and everything would seem like too much. Those were the times that Harry needed to take care of him. 

“And now you’ve got a new one,” Harry said, gently tugging Draco’s wrist. “Come back to bed. You’ve got all day and plenty of time for all those tasks.”

Draco let himself be pulled back into bed. He lay on his back, and Harry drew the quilt over the pair of them. Harry took off his glasses and snuggled into Draco’s side, enjoying the warmth and the silky smoothness where their bodies brushed against each other’s. An involuntary exhalation escaped Draco’s lips. “This does feel good,” Draco admitted.

“I’ll prep the dinner,” Harry said, “while you do your paperwork. Pansy can wait until the afternoon.”

“How do you always know the right thing to say?” Draco pondered, a small smile gracing his face.

Harry traced little circles with his fingertips over Draco’s shoulder and chest before he replied. “Just a brilliant boyfriend, I reckon,” he said. “Now, shall we go back to sleep? We’ve got a lot of years to be busy.”

“I’d like that,” Draco responded, yawning and closing his eyes. “Love you, Harry,” he said, burrowing his head into the pillow.

Thank you for this amazing prompt!! 💕 I’m honestly ashamed it’s taking me so long to write these (i think i still have one left?) but everything’s been so busy lately. I haven’t had time to write much. Anyways, i really hope you like this bit of fluff and my interpretation of autistic draco 👀

🌸 Forehead kisses 🌸

They didn’t kiss much on the lips. It wasn’t something Draco really enjoyed. The thought of having someone else’s lips on his own freaked him out more than anything.

It wasn’t like they hadn’t tried either. In the beginning of their relationship they had talked about it and Draco had wanted to try. But even then, it just never felt right.

“You don’t have to show your love by kissing me, Draco,” Harry had said, that lovely smile of his on his lips.

They had been sitting on the couch, Draco in Harry’s lap. Draco’s head had been leaning on Harry’s shoulder, defeated. He had wanted to try again and yet…

“I’m not normal,” Draco whispered softly. His eyes were squeezed shut. He couldn’t look at Harry. He couldn’t bear to see the disappointment in those eyes he loved so much.

Harry’s arms tightened around Draco’s waist. “You are normal, love,” he said. His lips brushed against Draco’s neck, making Draco squirm in Harry’s lap. His neck was very ticklish.

“Harry,” Draco said, lifting his head so he could look at his boyfriend. There was no disappointment in his eyes, no anger in the way his lips curled into a smile. There was only love and so many other emotions Draco felt suddenly overwhelmed. “Harry…”

“Shh, my love. It’s okay.” Harry pulled Draco closer until their foreheads were resting together. “It’s okay.”

Draco was trembling, his eyes closed. Harry’s love was overpowering. There was so much of it. Draco wasn’t used to that. But still…

He loved every second of it.

Slowly, he opened his eyes again and was met by two soft emeralds looking right back. And that’s when he realised that it all doesn’t matter. They didn’t have to kiss on the lips to show how much they loved each other. There were many other ways to do so.

Beneath him, Harry laughed quietly. His hand moved to cup one of Draco’s cheeks as he leaned up, his lips brushing the skin of Draco’s forehead.

“Oh.”

When Harry pulled back Draco’s forehead felt all warm and tingly where Harry’s lips had brushed against it. He moved his fingers over the spot, a bright smile slowly lighting up his face.

“I…” he started to say but was cut off by waves of happiness flooding through his veins. He leaned back a little, his arms flailing around as he tried to find the right words to say what he was feeling.

Harry laughed again, throwing his head backwards. His shoulders were shaking with mirth, a dimple appearing in his right cheek. “You’re impossible, darling,” he said through his laughter.

“Hmm”, Draco hummed, his eyes focussing on Harry’s forehead. He leaned closer. “I think I like forehead kisses,” he whispered as he leaned closer and placed his lips against Harry’s forehead.

Oh yes, he definitely liked them.

hey, do you know if there is a name or a tag for any version of Harry taking care of or helping Severus?

Hey, sorry I don’t think there’s a name for that. I tried some tags on AO3 but it didn’t really work. It’s not an uncommon trope though, and I personally really like it. 

The fics that I remember having a very caring Harry:

“And then I told the guy—”

Draco wasn’t listening anymore. How lovely the restaurant and the food were, the person in front of him just wasn’t. And Draco was tired of pretending. This wasn’t the person he was thinking about day in and day out. This wasn’t the person who stood at the top of his contacts in his phone.

There was only one person…

“Excuse me, I need to go to the bathroom,” Draco said, not waiting for the response of the man at the other side of the too small table. He stood up and left the table, heading for the bathroom, already taking his mobile phone out of his pocket.

He unlocked it and pressed the first name in his contacts. It only took a few seconds before a tired voice sounded at the other side.

“Hello?”

“Harry,” Draco breathed softly, closing the door of a stall and locking it behind him.

“Draco?” Harry sounded more awake now. “What’s wrong? Are you in trouble?”

“No, no! I—” Draco took a deep breath. “I made a mistake. I—I shouldn’t have left so abruptly. Harry—” He paused, trying to gather his thoughts. “Harry, I’m sorry.”

Rustling sounded through the phone, followed by a soft grunt. “Oh, Draco,” Harry said quietly, the fondness clearly audible in his voice. “Where are you right now?”

“In that new restaurant on Diagon. I’m—”

“I’ll come get you in a few. We can order some take out and… and talk about things if you’re feeling like it.” There was more rustling and cracking at the other side. “Draco?”

“Yeah—yes,” Draco said, relief washing over him. He would get out of here. Harry would come get him. Harry always got him. “Yes, thank you, Harry.”

“Of course. I gave you my number for something, didn’t I?”

Harry frowned. Draco was quiet.

Normally he was ebullient in the evenings, full of stories about the Unspeakable Division. Tonight though, his boyfriend was withdrawn. Looking up from his coffee, Harry noticed Draco’s face was careworn, even tense.

“Love?” Harry asked. “Was it a difficult day?”

It took a moment, but then Draco nodded. Harry straightaway opened his arms, tugging his beloved tightly into an embrace. Draco didn’t find asking for care straightforward. Draco could be skittish, wary and quick to run away.

Harry kissed Draco lightly, on the top of his head.

Easy affection was a work in progress.
