At the consignment shop where I bought this record, in Palm Springs, there are two entrances. One is on the street and it brings you into their main retail shop. When you enter their parking lot, you go down a small hill. Adjacent to the parking lot is another entryway. When I walked into the lower entrance, I had no idea that I was entering the bargain basement. I walked into a maze of bins, chock full of items strewn about with no clear organizational pattern. Records were piled haphazardly amongst other items and when I found this 7 inch by Italian pop singer Peppino Di Capri, I didn't even think it would play. Luckily, it does. "Danny Boy" sees the psuedo-Irish classic translated into Italian and accompanied by early beach party rock and roll stylings, complete with reverb soaked guitar and saxophone solos in sequence. The b-side "Marina" is a lighthearted English language love song that's a little more lounge than rock n roll.
