Left all alone in the world to fend for his little girl and the group who looked to him as a leader, Lee Everett feels completely and utterly hopeless. Having lost one of the only people to truly care about him, and to love him like no one had before, how will he cope? Is alcohol the solution? No. No way. It's time for another sober Saturday night. [OneShot - R&R)
Here we are lads and lasses! A little something I’ve been working on for the majority of today and yesterday!!!
Have a super sad, CarLee fanfic! Please read and review? It’d really REALLY help me out!
No matter what, I got your back
I'll take a bullet for you if it comes to that
I swear to God that in the bitter end
We're gonna be the last ones standing
‘Everything Has Changed’ by Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift
'Cause all I know is we said hello
And your eyes look like coming home
All I know is a simple name, everything has changed
All I know is you held the door
You'll be mine and I'll be yours
All I know since yesterday is everything has changed
- ‘Perfectly Perfect’ by Simple Plan
Maybe
You'll never see in you what I see
The little things you do that make me go crazy
I'm not crazy
You're perfectly perfect to me
- ‘Pretend’ by Scott Porter And The Glory Dogs
Strange, oh so strange
When it feels better being alone
You accept there is nobody else and set it in stone
And then you, came along
Your reflection was so sad and strong
You made me believe once again that I could be wrong.
- ‘Everglow’ by Coldplay
So how come things move on?
How come cars don’t slow?
When it feels like the end of the world
When I should but I can’t let you go
I really needed to get my head back in the game, so it’s all under the cut! Hope y’all enjoy!
1. Who is the early bird/ Who is the night owl?
Carley is the early bird, and Lee is the night owl. Though they both stay up quite late (or early, depending on how you want to look at it) because of work, Carley is up earlier than he is, as she likes to squeeze in a coffee and a quick morning jog to get her newspaper. Lee, however, can sleep for America.
2. Who is the big spoon/ Who is the little spoon?
Lee is the big spoon, and Carley is the little spoon; which is pretty much self-explanatory. Carley is tiny compared to him, so she likes using him as an extra blanket when she feels down of just when she needs a cuddle
3. Who hogs the cover/ Who loves to cuddle?
Carley hogs it, especially in the winter. It’s a running joke between them that Carley is ALWAYS cold, so she curls into a little burrito and sleeps like a baby, leaving Lee shivering in his boxers outside of the covers. But they’re both pretty big cuddlers, too.
4. Who wakes the other one up with kisses?
It really depends on the occasion. If it’s Carley’s birthday, then he will. But if it’s Lee’s birthday, she will.
5. Who usually has nightmares?
Carley has really bad night terrors at times, especially during stressful times in her life. The most recent was when she worried about their false-positive pregnancy test, and how Lee was taking everything (read my fanfic guys!)
6. Who would have really deep emotional thoughts at the middle of the night/ Who would have them in the middle of the day?
Carley would have them during the day most of the time, surprisingly enough, while Lee has them at night when everything is silent.
7. Who sweats the small stuff?
Surprisingly, again, it’s Carley. Lee is more laid back and chill about stuff. One example is like, where the shower suddenly gave up on them, and they had to make do with washing in the sink for a couple days. Carley near on had a full-on panic attack, while Lee just chilled and told her that they couldn’t do anything until the boiler repairman came, so they’d be better off just biding time. It didn’t stop her worrying.
8. Who sleeps in their underwear (or naked)/ Who sleeps in their pajamas?
Lee sleeps in his boxers, and only his boxers. And Carley sleeps in a tank-top and a pair of Lee’s baggier shorts. She also stole Lee’s old football jersey for the colder months, with a pair of sweatpants. However, once children come into the mix, he started wearing pyjama bottoms / lounge pants / sweatpants, only wearing a shirt for the winter.
9. Who makes the coffee (or tea)?
Surprise, surprise; it’s Carley. She wakes up, has her coffee (also pours him a cup), and then goes for a jog while Lee gets his day started. So by the time he comes downstairs, his cup is just the right temperature to drink without scalding his tongue.
10. Who likes sweet/ Who likes sour?
Carley has the sweet-tooth in the relationship, while Lee prefers stronger tastes. One example is that Carley’s drink is normally a sweet red wine, while Lee likes stronger stuff like Whiskey or beer.
11. Who likes horror movies/ Who likes romance movies?
They both liked horror movies, with Carley only secretly watching all those trashy, romance-y chick-flicks while he was out with his brother or she was off sick from work (which has only happened a handful of times over their entire marriage)
12. Who is smol/ Who is tol?
Smol – Carley / Tol - Lee
13. Who is considered the scaredy cat?
Neither of them were really ‘scaredy cats’ when it came to the ZA. But smaller things? They were about even. Carley HATED spiders with a passion, and other creepy-crawlies, while Lee hated needles and anything to do with hospitals.
14. Who kills the spiders?
That would be Lee. Except he didn’t “kill” them per-se. He told Carley he’d killed the spider, when in fact he’d caught it and put the little guy outside.
15. Who is scared of the dark?
Neither. They actually liked it, truth be told. It was comforting for them to just lay together staring out into the darkness of their bedroom.
16. Who is scared of thunderstorms?
Again; neither. It was relaxing for them. It wasn’t uncommon for them to share a bath during a storm.
17. Who works/ Who stays at home?
Please, they both worked. There was no way in HELL that Carley wasn’t working. She outright stated multiple times throughout her childhood and teenage years that she didn’t want to be the ‘little housewife’ and that no man would stop her from being a journalist. So when her and Lee had started dating, she was worried about this attitude scaring him off, or him not liking it. However, she was relieved to find he was just as driven as her when it came to working, and they balanced each other out.
18. Who is a cat person/ Who is a dog person?
Carley was literally the embodiment of a cat. She was perfectly content to curl up all day in her pyjamas with a good book or a trashy tv-show (after her morning jog, of course), while Lee was the embodiment of a dog, as he enjoyed being out, seeing everything he could, while brightening people’s days in doing so. He wouldn’t leave somewhere if he knew someone was upset, and would try to help them out In any way he could.
19. Who loves to call the other one cute names?
Neither. They were never really into cute nicknames or pet names? They call each other the usual ‘married couple’ names like “honey”, but that’s it.
20. Who is dominant/ Who is submissive?
Oh, oh-ho, wink wonk. Sexually it’s Lee who was more dominant, while Carley was more submissive (that’s not saying they didn’t mix things up though!). But out of the bedroom? It was less of a dom/sub thing they had, and more of a partnership. Neither was more dominant than the other.
21. Who has an obsession (over anything)?
Does Lee’s interest in Civil War history count?
22. Who goes all out for Valentine’s Day?
Neither. They didn’t really celebrate the holiday more than a card and making time for a nice dinner on the night. They didn't like to spend money on a holiday created primarily to make money.
23. Who asks who out on the first date?
In some weird, second-hand way it was Carley who asked Lee out. She gave him her phone number, which gave him the green light to ask her out. They met up a week later, and boom; first date: Achieved.
24. Who is the talker/ Who is the listener?
Like I’ve said before, it was an even-keel. Carley ranted about work whenever she could, and so would Lee. Their relationship was less of a his/hers thing, and they worked as more of a team.
25. Who wears the other ones clothes?
Carley stole Lee’s clothes ALL THE TIME, even though they were WAY too big for her, with his 6’2” frame, vs. her 5’3” stature. When they started a family, Carley would always steal Lee’s t-shirts before they bought her maternity clothes, and despite the maternity stuff being a lot prettier and better-fitting, she always went back to Lee’s stupid, tatty baseball t-shirt. She always blamed this for Clem liking baseball and sports more than dancing and singing.
26. Who likes to eat healthy/ Who loves junk food?
Carley ate super healthily, but not 100% of the time. She was a firm believer in a treat staying as just a treat, while keeping her body in top condition. Lee, however, couldn’t have cared less. He ate balanced, but he wasn’t opposed to the idea of eating two pieces of junk food in one day.
27. Who takes a long shower/ Who sings in the shower?
Neither, really. Unless, of course, they were sharing the shower. They were in and out within ten minutes every morning.
28. Who is the book worm?
They both enjoyed curling up with a book, but Lee moreso than Carley, as he needed to constantly read new non-fiction books for his job, while Carley read and watched the news almost constantly, even on days off.
29. Who is the better cook?
Carley, but only VERY slightly. When her and Lee started dating, neither could cook to save their lives. And though they both attempted to better their culinary abilities, it was only Carley that the lessons really worked out for. Neither of them meant for it to be the ‘woman cooks while man works’ situation, but simply by pure dumb luck it was the way things had worked out.
30. Who likes long walks on the beach?
Both of them, though neither of them got to do it often, as they lived in the inner-suburbs, about an hour away from the coast. Once Clementine came along, they made a point to do it more often.
31. Who is more affectionate?
Privately, it was equal. They liked to cuddle, kiss, snuggle up on the sofa, etc. But in public they stuck to holding hands, and brief pecks on the cheek. They didn’t really like to force their relationship onto the people around them.
32. Who likes to have really long (deep) conversation?
Both of them, really. It was something they liked to do on a night; setting aside 30 minutes to just talk about their day, or whatever was bothering them.
33. Who would wear “not guilty” t-shirt/ Who would wear “sin” t-shirt?
Lee would wear the ‘Sin’ t-shirt, while Carley would wear the ‘not guilty’.
34. Who would wear “if lost return to…” t-shirt/ Who would wear “I am…” t-shirt?
Oh my Christ it would be “If lost return to Carley” and “I am Carley”. She was the more mature in the relationship, after all.
35. Who goes overboard on the holidays?
Neither. They believed in setting boundaries, and setting budgets. It wasn’t about what they spent, or the grand gestures; it was the fact that they were together to celebrate things that mattered to them.
36. Who is the social media addict?
Seeing as Carley needed to keep up with general goings-on in the world, she was on social media the most of the two of them. But neither of them was an addict per-se.
37. Height difference or age difference?
Lee was two years older than Carley, and they met when Carley was 18 years old, and Lee was 20. There is just under a foot of height difference between them (5’3” – 6’2”)
38. Who likes to star gaze?
Both of them. Their honeymoon consisted of a lot of stargazing (keep tuned to my fanfic!)
39. Who buys cereal for the prize inside?
Neither. The only cereal they eat is bran or cornflakes, which are ‘adult’ cereals, and thus there is no prize in them.
40. Who is the fun parent/ Who is the responsible parent?
Lee was the more fun of the two of them (letting Clementine get icecream before dinner, and play at the park for an extra little while) while Carley was the firmer of the two. Though they never grounded Clem, they did take away privileges if she was ever in trouble (which was a rarity).
41. Who cries during sad movies?
Carley. Oh my Christ, Carley. Though Lee did cry during Monsters Inc, which was the butt of many jokes for years to come.
42. Who is the neat freak?
CARLEY. Literally, she liked to keep EVERYTHING organized and in its own place, while Lee liked his office to be an organized mess.
43. Who wins the stuffed animals at the carnival for the other one?
Lee tried to, and failed multiple times, and then grumbled for an hour about how the games were rigged, and how no one would ever win them.
44. Who is active/ Who is lazy?
They’re both pretty active, to be honest.
45. Who is more likely to get drunk?
Lee. Carley had only been blackout-drunk twice over their entire relationship, with one being very early on (resulting in a false-positive pregnancy test), and the other being her bachelorette night.
46. Who has the longer food order?
Lee. He can eat for America, and then some.
47. Who has the more complex coffee order?
Carley. God, she liked all kinds of coffee. Black, white, Latte, Cappucino, frappe; you name it, she’d drink it. Whereas Lee drank it black most of the time, with Almond milk occasionally.
48. Who loses stuff?
Lee. He could not keep a space tidy for the LIFE of him. Carley always TRIED to keep things as tidy as possible, but he’d go right back in and mess things up, thus meaning he lost a lot of things.
49. Who is the driver/ Who is the passenger?
Lee did the majority of the driving, though both of them were actually able to. It just tended to be him that drove them to and from places.
50. Who is the hopeless romantic?
Oh god, both of them! They really liked to show each other that they loved each other, and really believed in making their marriage work. As cheesy as it sounds, Lee knew she was the one from that first meeting, and she felt exactly the same.
