WHOOPS! - They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I think a more accurate way of saying it would be the road to hell is made by people who didn't listen to their shadow. - It's a sad irony when some of the kindest people you'll ever meet will suffer from depression, anxiety and repressed anger issues... All because they didn't want to be bad people. - Often times it can even turn you into the very thing you're wanting to avoid, that's what happened with me. - I was a HUGE asshole when I was younger, then I overcompensated by repressing all my anger and selfishness. Guess what happened? I became consumed with anger and selfishness and almost took my life as a result. - Imagine my surprise. - Now I've learned there just isn't anything virtuous in avoiding anger, selfishness or anything deemed 'negative'. - Real virtue is integrating these things into a coherent and honest values system so that you can use them in the ways you deem worthy. - I'm going to be addressing this in my group course coming up at the end of January.
