sopranos characters as littlest pet shops part two
Just as Christopher lays hands on Adriana, and dumps his feelings on her, but doesn’t dare touch Tony even when he’s furious at Tony, Meadow condescends and attacks Carmella when she’s furious about Tony’s violence b/c, unlike Tony, her mother is safe to attack—Carmella basically arranges things in “Fortunate Son” so that Meadow will attack her instead of Tony. Carmella ensures that Tony doesn’t come with them to visit Meadow, and while Meadow fumes about Tony’s fucked up treatment of Noah, Carmella takes Tony’s side, provides his defence, but primarily she absorbs Meadow’s pain and anger. Carmella offers herself up as a human sacrifice for Tony’s misdeeds.
…It’s like, Meadow loves Tony, but Tony’s violence is so terrible, and Meadow doesn’t know how to process that the man she loves is also a monster. Loving the beast doesn’t transform him into a prince, you’re just stuck loving a beast. And she’s trying to integrate her love for him with her moral feeling, her integrity, but it comes at such a cost, it’s almost a kind of violence against the self, and it produces incredible stress (just see the end of “The Happy Wanderer”). So, Carmella sets herself up as the scapegoat for her children—place the blame on her, because she can handle it, she won’t lash out against them like Tony will, she’ll absorb the pain so her children can love their father, the beast.
It all goes back to Thee Theme of The Sopranos: When a violent man goes home, he remains a violent man. And that violence seeps into everything, taints and corrupts all that it (he) touches. Tony is Oedipus, the godforsaken one that brings the plague.
Everyone towards the mainstream media about the Gaza genocide
I kinda forgot like 50% of the cast of Oz, The Sopranos, and The Wire pop up in Homicide LotS at least once. Also forgot Andre Braugher played Pembleton. Didnt forget Munch was here, just mentioning cuz I love him.
